Sex and the City star, John Corbett, still as handsome as ever as he approaches milestone birthday

John Corbett is living proof that some leading men only get better with age. As the actor prepares to celebrate his 65th birthday on May 9, 2026 he looks just as handsome today as he did at the height of his fame in the 1990s and early 2000s. 

With his signature salt-and-pepper hair, easy smile and laid-back charm, John continues to embody the same rugged appeal that first made him a household name.

The star first rose to prominence on the hit series Northern Exposure, where he played Chris Stevens, the philosophical radio DJ whose offbeat wisdom and relaxed charisma quickly won over audiences. The role showcased not just his acting chops, but also his distinctive presence – equal parts thoughtful and effortlessly cool.

He later cemented his place in pop culture history with his role as Aidan Shaw in Sex and the City, becoming one of the most beloved love interests of Carrie Bradshaw.

As the warm, grounded furniture designer who offered a stark contrast to the show’s more complicated relationships, Aidan became a fan favourite and remains one of the most talked-about characters in the franchise to this day, also appearing in the spin-off And Just Like That…

Off-screen, John’s personal life has been just as enduring. He has been in a long-term relationship with actress Bo Derek since 2002, with the couple quietly tying the knot in 2020 after nearly two decades together.

Their low-key romance has often been held up as a rare example of longevity in Hollywood, with both stars choosing to keep much of their relationship out of the spotlight.

Beyond acting, John has also carved out a second career in music, leaning into his love of country. He released his self-titled debut album in 2006, which climbed the Billboard Country Albums chart, followed by Leaving Nothin’ Behind in 2013.

In an interview with The Independent, he admitted that acting wasn’t as fun as it’s cracked up to be. He described being on a film set to “watching paint dry” and prefer “being at home” with his wife. In fact, the actor says he often regrets accepting a role, saying: “If something seems really, really f***ing fun, I’ll say yes. But then I’ll get there two days later and say, ‘Why… did I say yes?’”

However, one person he said makes it easy is Sarah Jessica Parker, who he described as “the best”, adding: “If I had to act the rest of my life with just one person, it would be her. There’s something about this girl.”
