After the early-morning arrest of ex-Prince Andrew on Thursday for misconduct in public office, allegedly for passing confidential government financial information to Jeffrey Epstein, all eyes have now turned to Sarah Ferguson and her daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, who have remained out of the public eye since the latest documents were declassified.
Questions about the former Duchess’s future are growing louder by the day. Since the scandal broke, she has kept a low profile, though according to the Daily Mail, she was recently seen with friends in the French Alps before relocating to the United Arab Emirates.
During this time, she has also spent moments with her youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie, who has been in Qatar for work, attending the Doha art fair as director of the Swiss gallery Hauser & Wirth.
Although she has not been arrested or charged with any crime, Sarah Ferguson is experiencing the same social exile as her former husband. She hasn’t been photographed in public since September 25, 2025. Even after three decades of divorce, the couple continued living together at Royal Lodge, a mansion from which they now face imminent eviction.
This marks the first time that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, eighth in line to the throne, has been arrested in connection with the Epstein case. Police have searched two of his residences, believed to be Royal Lodge and Wood Farm, his current home.
Sarah Ferguson’s situation is further complicated after her name appeared in numerous Epstein emails, revealing how close she was to her “friend.” She repeatedly asked him for money to pay her debts and maintained close contact even after his prison sentence.
She even took her two daughters to lunch with him just five days after he completed his sentence. Sarah also apologized to him for publicly denouncing him, claiming she did so to protect her career as a children’s book author.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Mail that Sarah Ferguson faces a bleak future, describing her as embarrassed, with her businesses closed and unlikely to receive support from any charities. He also suggested that further revelations about the situation are expected and that the story is far from over.
In response to the arrest of his brother, King Charles has issued a statement from Buckingham Palace expressing his deep concern over the situation. He emphasized that the matter will now proceed through the proper legal channels and that the authorities will handle the investigation in a full, fair, and appropriate manner.
Charles made it clear that his family offers their full support and cooperation, while underscoring that the law must take its course. He refrained from further comment on the matter, noting that he and his family will continue their duties and service to the public as the process unfolds.
