Beatrice Borromeo tends to make headlines for her role in Monaco’s royalty. As the wife of Pierre Casiraghi, Borromeo is a fixture in the House of Grimaldi. But the Italian socialite has always been far more than that, coming from one of the oldest, best-connected families in Italian nobility. She started her career early in fashion, training at some of the top universities in Italy and the United States, where she ultimately found her true calling in journalism.
Borromeo has built a notable career of her own, one that goes beyond an institutional or representative role. What she’s working on next is shrouded in mystery. Her next project is called “Blessed,” and is a new audiovisual production. The secrecy is total. No synopsis, cast, or release date has been shared.
For a director with her media profile and a technical team of this caliber, that kind of silence is almost unheard of — which is exactly why it has become the talk of Italian media circles.
The clues so far
What little is known about “Blessed” amounts to fragments. A clapperboard, dated June 17, 2026, surfaced on social media, shared by crew members. A teaser reel followed — brief, moody, and entirely without context, offering some of the atmosphere.
The one solid thread is Clarissa Cappellani, the cinematographer Borromoe has worked with in the past. Cappellani recently worked on “Brides,” Nadia Fall’s feature debut, which premiered in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.

This level of secrecy is unusual even by the standards of investigative filmmaking, the genre Borromeo works in, and points to a project that carries some thematic weight or institutional sensitivity to it. Notably, this isn’t her only project in motion — she’s also attached to a documentary on the Grimaldi family’s history, which has been openly discussed.
Their track record: Il Principe
Borromeo and Cappellani’s previous film earned them praise on all fronts. “Il Principe,” released internationally as “The King Who Never Was,” came out in 2023 on Netflix and established Borromeo’s name as a director. It reconstructs one of the murkiest chapters in recent Italian history: the 1978 shooting death of Dirk Hamer, a 19-year-old German tourist killed by Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia, heir to Italy’s defunct throne, during a dispute over a borrowed dinghy off Corsica. Hamer died 111 days later from the wound. It took thirteen years of legal proceedings before Vittorio Emanuele was acquitted of murder in 1991, though he was convicted of illegally possessing the firearm.
Italy’s leading papers — Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, Il Fatto Quotidiano — praised the series’ journalistic rigor, and international critics called it an incisive look at how power, money, and connections can shape justice. The access was what set it apart: judicial files, previously unseen documents, and testimony from people who’d avoided speaking for years, including Vittorio Emanuele himself (his final interview before his 2024 death), his son Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia, and Birgit Hamer, Dirk’s sister, who’d spent decades demanding answers.

That a member of European royalty was willing to hold the House of Savoy to real scrutiny stood out. “Il Principe” landed on multiple year-end best-of lists and established Borromeo in the genre, building on earlier investigative work, including her reporting on the women of the mafia.
What else is on her plate
Borromeo is also developing “Monaco,” a documentary franchise exploring the history, identity, and institutional complexity of the principality.
Her family life, meanwhile, has hardly slowed her down: she and her husband welcomed a daughter in October 2025, Bianca Carolina Marta. Her name honors her mother-in-law, Princess Caroline, and her own maternal grandmother, the Italian fashion icon Marta Marzotto. Six weeks after the child’s birth, Borromeo was already back on the royal circuit, appearing at Monaco’s National Day celebrations.
For now, “Blessed” remains exactly what its creators seem to want it to be: a name, a date, a handful of images, and a great deal of speculation.
