The 1990s has long been hailed as the Golden Age of fashion with the rise of the Big Six supermodels – Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, and Kate Moss.

As a backlash against the bold glamour of the 1980s, the 1990s ushered in the “heroin chic” era – a moodier, more sultry and provocative aesthetic. Think of Tom Ford’s tenure at Gucci, where the female form was unapologetically celebrated. The decade also marked a shift towards cleaner silhouettes and understated dressing, with minimalism shaping the sartorial agenda. Razor-thin eyebrows were on everyone’s mood board, and the likes of Calvin Klein refined supreme.

It’s a look that has been revived today, which is why we’re taking a closer look at where some of the era’s most iconic sirens are now.

Kate Moss

In 1992, Kate Moss made her runway debut in Milan for Dolce & Gabbana’s spring/summer 1993 collection. Her breakthrough came in 1993, when she starred alongside Mark Wahlberg in a campaign for Calvin Klein.

Today, Kate continues to model for major fashion houses, but is more selective in her choosing. She founded her own modelling agency called Kate Moss Agency in 2016. In 2022, she moved into the wellness sphere with her lifestyle brand Cosmoss. She is also a mother to one daughter, Lila Moss.
