Where were Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds during Taylor Swift’s rehearsal dinner?

With Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s multi-day wedding expecting to begin today, more information continues to make its way to the public. Last night was her rehearsal dinner, and a growing list of celebrities in attendance has been making its rounds. 

One couple that used to be close to Swift was notably not in attendance – Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Instead, the couple was roughly 300 miles away in Lake Placid, New York, spending the day focused on family as they cheered on their daughter Betty at a horse show. 

According to photos published by TMZ, Lively and Reynolds were all smiles on the sidelines while 6-year-old Betty competed in multiple events, even taking home first- and second-place finishes.

Meanwhile, back in New York City, Swift and Kelce’s wedding weekend appeared to kick off with a star-studded rehearsal dinner officially. A growing list of celebrity guests has already surfaced, including Lena Dunham, Jack Antonoff, Selena Gomez, Erin Andrews, Greg Olsen, and several close friends from both of their inner circles.

It’s not too surprising Lively wasn’t at the rehearsal dinner. Rumors have been swirling for weeks that they would not be getting an invite. But with how massive the Madison Square Garden is, they may be at the actual party.

It’s a classic game of friends come and go, except with a multimillion-dollar A-list legal battle twist. Not long ago, Lively was considered one of Swift’s closest friends, and the “Love Story” singer was even her children’s godmother. Their friendship stretched nearly a decade, with vacations, birthday celebrations, football games, and countless public appearances.

Swift even immortalized their daughters’ names in her music. Betty, James, and Inez were famously woven into Folklore, while James’ voice made a cameo on “Gorgeous.”

But speculation around a fallout intensified after Lively’s highly publicized legal battle with Justin Baldoni, which dominated headlines and unexpectedly pulled Swift into the mess.

 What began as Blake’s legal dispute reportedly escalated after private messages involving Swift were subpoenaed and later became public. Sources close to Swift said she wanted distance from the situation.

By mid-2025, People reported the longtime friends were “taking space,” and by later that year, multiple outlets reported the two were no longer speaking.

 According to TMZ, more than 1,000 guests are expected across the multi-day celebration, with Madison Square Garden reportedly booked for multiple days surrounding the festivities.

All signs point to the fact that the wedding is underway today. Food has been delivered into the venue, schedules have been leaked, and while there will be a reported “No Phone” policy, it’s all eyes on what comes in and out of MSG.
