Ava Phillippe was the spitting image of her A-list mother, Reese Witherspoon, in her latest red carpet appearance for the premiere of Scream 7 in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old showcased her lithe figure in a black snakeskin dress with spaghetti straps, and paired the look with deep red heels and dangling black and gold earrings. She wore her blonde locks straight down to her shoulders and opted for a cat eye makeup look.
By Ava’s side was her boyfriend, Dakota Brubaker, who arrived in a black suit with a black shirt underneath. The budding actress looked just like her mother at the event, with their matching blonde hair, heart-shaped faces and wide smiles.
Ava and Reese share a close bond, with the Legally Blonde star admitting to InStyle that she takes it as a compliment when people point out their uncanny resemblance. “I love being mistaken for her because it makes me feel so young,” she shared.
Reese added that she was “so proud of her” and that Ava handled the comparisons with ease, before quipping: “I’m sure it’s not easy looking exactly like your mother.”
The Hello Sunshine founder was only 23 when she welcomed Ava, alongside her former husband, Ryan Phillippe. “I lived away from my mother. My mom had a full-time job as a nurse, and I had a baby really young – I was 23 years old – and so I was raising her by myself,” she recalled on The View.

“I didn’t know what to do when the baby cried all night. I didn’t understand what sleep training was,” she continued. “Ava was up all night until she was probably seven months old because I just didn’t understand not to keep feeding her, because I thought she was hungry all the time.”
Ava has come into her own in recent years and is steadily building up her acting resume, with appearances in Doctor Odyssey and Ransom Canyon, and upcoming performances in Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me and The Sisters of Scott County.

While it is unclear how they met, the pair both attended UC Berkeley, with Dakota graduating in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in cognitive science and a minor in journalism, while Ava graduated two years later with a social welfare degree.
