Some incredible stories have come out of the World Cup, but one was completely out of this world. After Brazilian psychic Vó Baiana shared a dream saying she saw extraterrestrials touching down and abducting members of Brazil’s national team, AI art, conspiracy theories, and nonstop social media chaos ensued. Needless to say, June 24th’s match against Scotland came and went, and the aliens never showed up.

Ana Tércia da Silva Gonçalves, better known online as Vó Baiana, is now handling the situation, speaking out after the aliens and reptilians failed to materialize.

According to Baiana, people misunderstood what she said from the beginning. Speaking on Central Splash after the match, the psychic pushed back against claims that she guaranteed an alien invasion, insisting she only shared a recurring dream that felt unusually vivid.

“I’m against fake news and misinformation,” she said in Portuguese. “Anyone who watched my video will see that I said, ‘Guys, I had a dream.’”

She explained that what unsettled her wasn’t simply the dream itself, but the fact that she had it twice. “When I dreamed it the second time, it felt very real,” she said. “I got scared because it was the second time I was having the same dream, and the second one was more intense.”

Baiana stressed that she never promised aliens would arrive on June 24 or that Brazil’s players would definitely be abducted mid-game. “At no point did I say it was guaranteed,” she said.

Still, that nuance did little to stop the internet. The psychic said her phone was flooded with calls and messages from people around the world asking the same question: Where are the aliens?

“They crashed my phone,” she said. “People kept calling and messaging, saying, ‘Grandma, haven’t they arrived yet? Where’s the alien?”

Despite becoming the internet’s punchline, Baiana said there was something unexpectedly heartwarming about the collective obsession.

“On one hand, it was bad, but on the other, I saw incredible unity from people around the world,” she said. “Everyone was talking about it.”

Not all of the attention was harmless, though. As the story exploded online, she says she also faced harassment, insults, and hate from skeptics. “It wasn’t only positive,” she said. “There was a very negative side too.”

And while the aliens may have missed kickoff, Baiana isn’t abandoning her supernatural takes anytime soon. Later on Instagram, she shared stories pointing to the earthquakes happened during the game. “At the time the game was happening, there were also 10 earthquakes at the same time, right?” she said, “On the 24th.” Reports seem to point to 4 earthquakes on the 24th.

Her World Cup predictions

During the same interview, she shared fresh predictions for Brazil’s World Cup run. According to the psychic, she sees Brazil making it to the quarterfinals, but not lifting the trophy.

She named France, Spain, and England as stronger contenders, adding that she doesn’t see either Argentina or Portugal winning either.

Still, her long-term outlook for Brazilian football is much brighter. Baiana said she believes Brazil’s true resurgence is still coming – just not this year.

She predicted Brazilian football will be “reborn” over the next eight years, crediting a new generation of talent led by young star Endrick, whom she described as a future “second Pelé.”
