Lux Pascal is facing an exciting year. The actress is coming off the announcement of Tom Ford’s star-studded movie and an appearance at the 2026 Met Gala. With a string of international achievements under her belt, one project stands out for personal reasons. This week, she premiered “Summer War” at Tribeca, her first official Chilean film, marking a meaningful return to the creative community that nurtured her as an actress.

“This experience made me believe in destiny even more.”

Pascal has built an international career; while based in the US, she trained in acting at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. Before leaving to continue her acting education in the States, she starred in numerous Chilean TV productions.

“Summer War” ultimately became more than a career milestone; it was an opportunity to reconnect with her roots, an experience she described as reaffirming.

“This experience made me believe in destiny even more,” she said in an interview with HOLA!. Pascal had worked with the film’s director, Alicia Scherson, on a TV series called “Heroes Invisibles,” made up of six episodes that came out in 2019. The two had developed a great relationship throughout the shoot.

“I came away with a really good impression of her as a director — I felt very comfortable. I feel like, beyond being a good director, she’s a director of actors. So I left thinking, God, I really want to work with her again. I went back to the United States carrying the memory of the series we made together as something beautiful.”

The opportunity to work in Chile again popped up some time later, while vacationing in her home country. “It was funny because whenever I went to Chile, I never went to auditions. I’d go on vacation, and Chileans sometimes think, No, she won’t want to work here. And you always want to work. Actors always want to work,” she said.

Pascal said that working in Chile felt like a homecoming. “I got to be with people I’d worked with before. It was really lovely, it was very effortless, even though in this context I was a bit of an outsider. And it was so fun to play the outsider in front of colleagues who’ve known me since I was a theater student (laughs).”

Pascal plays the role of Ingrid, a woman on vacation in Chile with her American boyfriend. She’s laidback and easygoing, a natural fit for Pascal’s energy, while representing the opposite of the film’s uptight and quirky main character.

“I always intend to keep working with filmmakers from my country.”

Pascal shared her excitement over premiering the film in Tribeca, one of the major festivals in New York City, where she lives. The project marks another achievement as an international star, but also an opportunity to represent her country, something that she intends to pursue whenever the opportunity arises.

“Premiering at Tribeca firmly reminds me that Chilean cinema is a powerhouse in the world,” she said. “I’ve always known that. And I always intend to keep working with filmmakers from my country.”

When discussing the film’s premiere this past Sunday, Pascal shares how special it was to return and work with Chileans. “We know how to make movies feel like family, you know? And that was most of my experience while I was shooting.”
