Happy Birthday, Sir David Beckham! The former Manchester United superstar turned 51 on Saturday, and the first person to pay a loving tribute was his wife of 26 years, Victoria.
VB took to Instagram where she shared a plethora of pictures of the former footballer, including date night images, and various snaps of his childhood. But the photograph that undoubtedly generated the most interest was a never-before-seen picture of her heartthrob husband aboard a yacht in Portofino, rocking a pair of skimpy red briefs!
There’s no denying that David pulled off the Baywatch-style swimwear with major aplomb. With his famously toned physique on show, he proves that he is ageing like a fine wine.
We predict a sales resurgence in briefs like these for men. After all, David is one of the best-dressed males in the world, and has a penchant for being individual with his clothing – from sarongs to top-to-toe leather.
Victoria penned: “You are our world, our everything. We love you so much!!! Happy birthday to the best husband, daddy, son, brother, and friend. To the kindest most generous soul. We will spoil you all day!!!! Nobody deserves it more than you xxx.”
Royal men in briefs
It appears that Sir David is in great company with his choice of swimwear – the royal family!
Mike Tindall famously donned a pair of the briefs in 2022, during an appearance on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. At the time, viewers were left stunned during an episode where the former England rugby star dropped his towel to reveal he was wearing skimpy swimwear.
Hosts Ant and Dec were equally surprised at the former rugby player’s choice of swimming trunks, joking that he was wearing his wife Zara Tindall’s bikini bottoms while addressing viewers from the tree house studio.
Prince Harry was once gifted a pair. In 2018, the brother of Prince William was presented with a pair of swimwear briefs by members of the Australian Invictus Games team.
Harry wasted no time trying on the tiny pair of swimming trunks. Paralympic gold medallist Dylan Alcott recalled their fun meeting, explaining: “We gave him a gift. One of the athletes, Matt, gave him a pair of budgie smugglers. And he put them on, over his jeans. It looks awesome.” Harry asked them, “Shall I put them on?” to which the athletes encouraged: “One hundred per cent.”
