US President Donald Trump has shared his honest verdict on the royal state visit in a private text exchange with Piers Morgan.
The British broadcaster took to his social media to offer an insight into the private messages he exchanged with the president, revealing that Trump is “ecstatic” about how King Charles and Queen Camilla’s four-day visit to the US went.
As for his verdict on King Charles, whom he described as “so cute” during his welcome speech in Washington, D.C, the President has now branded him a “great guy”.
Piers wrote: “Texting with President Trump, and he’s ecstatic about the Royal visit. Told me King Charles is ‘a great guy’, and the state dinner was ‘a wonderful evening, very special.
“I think the Monarch & Queen Camilla have single-handedly repaired the Special Relationship. Congrats, Your Majesties!”
Trump and Piers have known each other for 18 years, first meeting when the journalist and broadcaster won Celebrity Apprentice in 2008.
They have remained in touch since and “talk constantly”, according to Piers, but their friendship has encountered several obstacles, including differing politics over the COVID-19 pandemic and the January 6 Capitol riots.

The visit has widely been considered a triumph of “soft power”. King Charles has been showered with praise by the President, delivered a powerful speech to Congress, and even achieved the lifting of tariffs on Scottish whisky.
The historic state visit centred on the 250th anniversary of American independence and a landmark address to a Joint Meeting of Congress.

The trip culminated in Virginia with USA250 celebrations, where the King joined local festivities to highlight the shared cultural and historical roots uniting the two nations.

Trump, who previously described the King as “a great friend of mine”, said Charles was “the greatest King” as he made his departure. “He’s a great king,” Trump said. “The greatest king, in my book.”
As the cars pulled away, Trump told the press that King Charles and Queen Camilla were “really great people”, adding: “We need more people like that in our country.”
Following the U.S. leg of his trip, the King hopped on a plane to Bermuda for another historic first visit, where he has been busy opening a new Coast Guard station and visiting environmental conservation sites.
