Nara Smith may be known for her soft voice, trad-wife ways, and seemingly perfect life, but the influencer is proving that not everything is as it seems. In an emotional new video that has been viewed over 6.1M times in 5 hours, the model and content creator revealed that she and her husband Lucky’s young daughter, Whimsy, was diagnosed with cancer late last year.
“There’s no easy way to say this or to talk about any of this,” Nara began. “But late last year, our daughter, Whimsy, got diagnosed with cancer.”
According to the mother of 4, she noticed something unusual on her daughter and decided to get it checked immediately, a decision she now hopes encourages others to trust their instincts. “When we saw something suspicious on her, we took her to the ER,” she explained. But even after that initial visit, doctors still didn’t have clear answers.
It wasn’t until a follow-up appointment with Whimsy’s pediatrician that Smith felt something was seriously wrong.“I just remember him going really quiet and calm,” she recalled. “And my heart dropped in that moment.”
Nara says something that she already knows. “I don’t know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom’s intuition,” she said, “but the first thing that I felt was that she had cancer.”
It’s a parent’s biggest fear, which was later confirmed. After being sent to the nearest children’s hospital for additional testing, including X-rays, ultrasounds, and ultimately a biopsy, the family received devastating news.
“They immediately called us and said that she had cancer,” Nara shared. “They told us it had spread and that she needs to come and start chemo treatments immediately.”
Since then, Nara says life has become a constant balancing act between hospital visits, motherhood, work, and simply surviving emotionally. “A lot of you have probably realized that I’ve been posting a little less, and this is the reason why,” she said.
Another brutal layer is the fact that Nara just welcomed their youngest, Fawnie Golden, in October 2025, and has been navigating the postpartum period and cancer news all while caring for the rest of the children.
“Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging,” she explained, admitting that maintaining balance has become a daily struggle. “Some days are a little easier; some days are really hard,” Smith said.
© GettyAmid the stress, Smith said she found comfort in the stories of others. Throughout Whimsy’s treatment, she leaned on online communities, hospital conversations, and the experiences of other parents walking similar paths.
“Throughout all of this, I’ve been on a plethora of forums and social media and have also talked to parents and family in the hospital,” she shared. “All of that combined really brought me a lot of comfort and alleviated the feeling of loneliness for me.”
That support ultimately inspired her to share Whimsy’s story. “We wanted to share this to hopefully bring someone else that comfort,” Smith said, “or even incentivize you to go get something checked out that you’ve been avoiding.”

Her followers also pointed out the fact that she has been silently navigating this for months, still posting and still going through things like hate. “We truly never know what people are going through,” someone commented.
“I’m so sorry. Can’t I believe you’ve been going through this all this time? And people get on you for the stupidest, smallest, ridiculous things. Goes to show you never know what people are going through. Always be kind,” another person added.
