Hilaria Baldwin can admit her relationship with Alec Baldwin, and their 26-year age gap, can seem “ridiculous.”
The 30 Rock alum and the former yoga teacher met back in 2011 at Pure Food & Wine, an organic restaurant in New York City’s Irving Place, and tied the knot the following year.
And though the mom-of-seven relents their relationship might seem straight out of a Saturday Night Live sketch, she maintains it has “worked out.”
Hilaria, speaking with the Daily Mail, joked: “Take a 27-year-old yoga instructor married to a rich and famous older man — it sounds ridiculous. It sounds like a bad SNL sketch.”
The Dancing with the Stars alum, 42, however noted that her marriage to Alec, 68, nonetheless “worked out, luckily,” and moreover she and her husband “poke fun at each other in our family all the time.”
“I think people expect that Alec wanted somebody he could boss around, and we’re on the same level together,” she added.
As for how they keep their marriage thriving, she shared: “We take a lot of time for date nights,” noting: “We’ve been traveling a lot for work recently but we try to have a lot of date nights.”
The couple, who are parents to seven children, Carmen Gabriela, 12, Rafael Thomas, 10, Leonardo Ángel, nine, Romeo Alejandro, eight, Eduardo “Edu” Pao, five, María Lucía, five, and Ilaria Catalina, two, are based between their Greenwich Village apartment and a home out in the Hamptons.
“That usually involves dinner,” Hilaria said of their date nights. “[Alec] loves a good dinner, we either go out or I cook and we usually end up chatting and catching each other up on our seven kids and our projects.”
“We just let each other be, and I think that’s one of the reasons our relationship has gone on as long as it has, because we are polar opposites and so different,” she further shared.
“There’s been so much chaos in our lives, so much of it wonderful, some horrible things but we’ve managed to figure it out,” Hilaria went on, with Alec, who was also in attendance alongside Hilaria at an event celebrating her Spotlight magazine cover, adding he knew Hilaria was the one from the moment they met. “I think anybody can see that. She’s a very special person, she really is.”
“When I met her, she was unknown; she wasn’t a famous person. She was a hard worker and I really admired that. She’s beautiful beyond measure, inside and out,” he gushed.
