Lark Voorhies rose to fame on Saved by the Bell, one of the most beloved sitcoms of the 90s.

The 52-year-old actress was known to millions of fans as fashion-obsessed Lisa Turtle until the show ended in 1993.

Lark largely retreated from the spotlight in the following years, aside from the occasional TV appearance.

But the star recently reemerged when she gave a rare on-camera interview for the docuseries Hollywood Demons, which aired in May. We take a look at what the star is up to now.

Career

Lark got her start as Bayside High’s resident fashion queen, Lisa Turtle, before making guest appearances on the spin-off shows Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Saved by the Bell: The New Class.

The actress also starred in Days of Our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful in the ’90s and she made guest appearances on shows like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and The Parkers.

She dabbled in film work throughout her career, with roles in How to Be a Player in 1997, How High in 2001 and Little Creeps in 2012.

By the new millennium, Lark had largely retreated from the spotlight, making very sporadic film and TV appearances throughout the 2000s.

Personal struggles

In 2012, Lark gave an interview to Entertainment Tonight which sparked concern among viewers, who found her speech erratic and difficult to follow.

In 2015, Lark married music engineer Jimmy Green in Las Vegas. The relationship was short-lived as she filed for divorce just six months later.

In 2020, the actress appeared on The Dr. Oz Show where she said she had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, which is characterised by both symptoms of schizophrenia and either bipolar disorder or depression.

Common symptoms include delusions, hallucinations and disorganised speech and thinking.

Lark later said that she was “hurt” when she was not asked to reprise her role as Lisa on the Saved by the Bell reboot that debuted on Peacock in 2020 and featured several of her former co-stars including Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez and Tiffani Thiessen.

Return to the spotlight

Lark did eventually reprise her role as Lisa on the reboot, however. She appeared in three episodes where it was established Lisa was now a fashion designer who split her time between Los Angeles and Paris. Her episodes aired in 2020 and 2021 and she has not had any acting credits since then.

Lark resurfaced again this year in Hollywood Demons and gave advice to the next generation of actresses.

“For any young women, if they’re in this business… don’t give up,” she said.

The episode, called After The Bell, featured interviews with former cast and crew from Saved by the Bell, according to Page Six.

Lark said that, even though she has spent many years out of the spotlight, she has not retired.

“I look forward to working,” she said.
