Based on the classic cartoons by Ronald Searle, the hit 2007 remake follows a chaotic group of rebellious pupils pulling out all the stops to save their all-girls boarding school from bankruptcy.
While the story originally hit the big screen in 1954 and was followed by four sequels, the beloved reboot holds a special place in fans’ hearts – largely thanks to the stellar cast list. Celia Imrie, Jodie Whittaker, Stephen Fry, Toby Jones, Fenella Woolgar, Anna Chancellor, Lena Headey, Mischa Barton, Russell Brand, Rupert Everett and Colin Firth also star.

The film received mostly negative reviews from critics. Empire described it as “dreadfully clunky” in its two-star review, while The Guardian gave just one star to the “cheesy, dated, humourless and crass” film.
However, in the almost twenty years since its release, the film has become a cult classic.
