Jennifer Garner praises Ben Affleck, her ‘incredible co-parent’

Jennifer Garner has nothing but praise for Ben Affleck, her ex-husband and the father of her children. Over the past couple of weeks, Garner has been promoting her new TV show, “The Five Star Weekend.” She revealed that relying on Affleck helped her be a part of the series. 

Garner stars in “The Five Star Weekend,” a series based on a novel that had been in development for a while, following a woman who loses her husband and decides to go on a getaway trip, inviting friends from different eras of her life.

“When it was offered to me, it was supposed to shoot, I think, in Nova Scotia,” Garner said to Entertainment Weekly. “I said, ‘I would love to do it, but like everything, I really only work in L.A. I have three teenagers, and I can’t leave for four months. It’s just not worth it to me.’” Garner shares three kids with Affleck: Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 13.

Some time later, the showrunners came back to her for a plan to shoot it in Los Angeles, with the shooting schedule only requiring her to shoot for a month in Nantucket, changing things for her. 

“They can stay with their dad,” explained Garner. “He’s wonderful. He takes care of them. He’s a great partner in that way. And so that’s very freeing.”

How Garner’s priorities have shifted over the years

Garner has opened up about maintaining a career while also raising kids, and how her family has determined many of her career decisions. “There is a time in your life where you just do get caught up in all of that,” said Garner. “And that’s okay. Nothing is forever. That’s a season. And it’s a beautiful thing. And I wouldn’t trade a minute of it. But I feel like my kids are a little bigger. Their dad has become this incredible co-parent.”

“When they were younger, I wouldn’t have done a couple of weeks away without taking them with me. Now they’re older.” 

Garner is often photographed in Los Angeles with her kids, going on outings with Fin, and taking Samuel to different activities. In the case of their eldest daughter, Violet, she’s a student at Yale University.
