Jennifer Grey shocked fans on Monday when she shared a throwback photo of herself and her close friend, actress Tracy Pollan, topless on the beach in the ’80s.
The 66-year-old took to Instagram to share the photo, which featured the pair standing on the beach with their arms around each other, clad in nothing but colored bikini bottoms. Jennifer artfully covered their torso with emojis, and celebrated her lifelong friend’s special day in the caption.
“Happy birthday @tracy.pollan. Friendship like this is [star emoji],” she began. “If you fall I will catch you, I’ll be waiting time after time!'” Jennifer added, referencing the lyrics to Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” track.
“Hahahaha I love you!!” Tracy added in the comment section, as their fans shared the love. “What 1980s exercises were you ladies doing to get abs like that?” one fan quipped, while another added: “Absolutely gorgeous.”
Jennifer has been friends with the 66-year-old beauty since they were 14 years old and growing up in New York. The Dirty Dancing star opened up about their close bond in a 2023 birthday tribute on social media.
“Happy birthday to my lifelong sister-friend @tracy.pollan. There is nothing like having someone you can always count on, from 14 on, through so many chapters, through so much life. I [love you] #tracypollan #oldfriendsarethebestfriends,” she wrote.
The duo reunited in February for a getaway, and shared snaps from their beachside vacation. “Long overdue girls trip @tracy.pollan giggled like we were back in high school,” Jennifer wrote in the caption, with Tracy commenting: “Love you the mostest!”

Meanwhile, Tracy’s husband of 37 years, Michael J. Fox, shared a sweet tribute to his wife on her special day. “Wow!! Tracy, have the beautiful birthday you deserve. Love you xoxo,” he captioned a carousel of photos of the blonde beauty, including one of her in a gold gown at a party, another of her smiling in front of a pair of Christmas trees, and a third that saw the couple sitting together on a bench.
Tracy and Michael have endured decades of hardship after the Back to the Future star was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the ’90s. The duo have stuck by each other’s side through it all, with the help of their four children, Sam, 37, twins Aquinnah and Schuyler, 31, and Esmé, 24.
“Michael was diagnosed before the girls were born and very, very early into Sam’s life, so it’s kind of all they know, really,” Tracy told People.
“And they’re just incredibly supportive. They’re very helpful to me. I lean on them a lot and [because] Michael is so optimistic, which is wonderful and really helps him, but it’s really important to also understand that this is a huge challenge.”
Tracy added that being a caregiver involved so much more work than people realized. “It’s very difficult for the family, for the caregivers, and obviously for the patient, so I think it’s also important to acknowledge that, and acknowledge that it’s not just all sort of easy. It’s not easy. So you know, and it’s hard for them, but they show up and you know, they’re there for us.”
