It’s been sixteen years since the Princess of Wales became one of the most famous women in the world. Prince William announced his engagement with an iconic photocall at St James’s Palace in 2010.
Royal fans were delighted to see King Charles’ eldest son introduce his bride-to-be, proposing with his late mother Princess Diana’s iconic sapphire engagement ring.
Kate’s outfit, however, arguably stole the show. She wore an incredible, royal blue dress to mark the occasion. Designed by UK brand Issa London, her striking wrap dress featured a pleated front, flared skirt, and delicately ruched waist ties. With a price tag of £430 at the time, the dress quickly became an iconic item, selling out in over 42 countries after Kate donned it.
© WireImageThe cut was clearly a favourite of Kate’s at the time, as she wore the very same style again a year later. During the Royal Tour of Canada in 2011, after she and William were married, the brunette royal opted for the deep purple colour.
The dress proved so universally popular that it went on to put the label out of business due to extraordinary demand.

In 2012, Kate’s younger sister Pippa wore the same dress to a wedding, although she opted to wear it in a striking raspberry red shade.

The nuptials took place in Aberlady, East Lothian, Scotland. Pippa added a floral fascinator in the same rouge tone and black high heels.
