Kate Middleton comes face-to-face with ex-boyfriend Rupert Finch at family wedding

The Princess of Wales’s ex-boyfriend was among the glamorous guests at Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling’s nuptials in the Cotswolds on Saturday.

Rupert Finch reportedly dated Kate for just under a year in 2001 when the pair were students at the University of St Andrews – before she won the heart of Prince William. Their relationship was even depicted in season six of The Crown, with a floppy-haired Rupert portrayed by actor Oli Green.

At the time of their romance, Rupert was in his fourth year of studying and following St Andrews, he went on to graduate from the College of Law in Guildford.

The exes have remained on friendly terms, it seems, as Rupert was invited to William and Kate’s royal wedding at Westminster Abbey in London in April 2011.

Two years later, Rupert married the daughter of the 4^th Marquess of Reading, Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs. Their nuptials in Cirencester in June 2013 were attended by Princess Eugenie and Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend, Cressida Bonas.

Natasha is no stranger to royal circles, as she and Lavinia Brennan are the founders of ethical fashion brand Beulah London. Their dresses have been coveted by blushing bride Harriet Sperling, as well as the Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Edinburgh and Princess Beatrice.

In an exclusive interview with HELLO! back in 2020, Natasha said of the then Duchess of Cambridge: “It’s always lovely to see the Duchess in Beulah. She’s a wonderful ambassador for British brands and that is more important than ever at the moment.”

For Peter and Harriet’s wedding, Natasha naturally sported one of her own designs, a cornflower blue patterned maxi dress with blouson sleeves – also worn by Kate for a polo match in 2023.

Like William and Kate, Rupert and Natasha share three children: Georgia, born in 2015, Cienna, born in 2017, and India Grace Albertine, born in 2020. After the birth of their third child, Natasha told HELLO! at the time: “I’m one of three children myself, I definitely think three is enough and Rupert would agree. But who knows? It’s such a blessing to be able to have three.”
