Katie Holmes was glowing as she stepped out with her mother, Kathleen Holmes, for the American Ballet Theater Spring Gala in New York City.
The actress turned heads in a white two-piece ensemble consisting of a spaghetti-strap top with a structured, voluminous overlay, and a matching textured skirt. She added strappy heels, a sparkling necklace and chunky earrings to complete the look, and wore her brunette locks in subtle waves.
Her mother looked beautiful in a golden gown with intricate black detailing and puffed sleeves, and she paired the look with a black handbag and black flats. This marks a rare appearance for Kathleen, who last attended the gala alongside her husband, Martin Holmes, and her daughter in 2024.
Katie is incredibly close with her mother, and shared a sweet birthday tribute to her in September 2024. “Happy Birthday Mom! I love you so very much!” she wrote in the caption. “A very happy birthday to my incredible mom. I am so very lucky to be loved by this selfless, strong, smart, sweet and generous woman.”
The Dawson’s Creek star is the youngest of five siblings, including Holly, Nancy, Tamera and Martin Jr., and was raised in Ohio.
“I don’t know how my mom did it, raising all five of us,” she told Glamour. “I have three sisters and three sisters-in-law; I have learned from them. I’m inspired by them.”

“But my mom is an incredible quilter, and one of my sisters is an art teacher, so I grew up with that,” she continued. “I’ve always wanted Suri to feel empowered [in that way] too.”

So we went to the fabric store and picked out everything we needed for fairies. I wanted her to create things instead of having stuff done for her. That way, she was always in charge.”

“I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.”
