Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s eldest daughter North West, has become the subject of some online discussion in recent days, as a clip of the teenager went viral from the Vetements Menswear Spring/Summer 2027 show on Friday.
The 13-year-old attended Paris Fashion Week after previously expressing her interest in fashion and her infamous grungey aesthetic, but it was one video in particular that garnered a surprising response from a familiar face.
British rapper Skepta, 43, took to X to share his thoughts on a video of North, who appeared to extend her hand for a handshake before being embraced by a male attendee.
Skepta, who’s real name is Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr, posted a series of tweets which read: “A blind man could see she wanted a handshake,” adding: “My fans know I try to stay out of people’s business but damn the way grown men, complete strangers, try to use North makes me sick.”
When another user questioned, “is hugging is a social offense now?”, the London native replied justly with: “What are you talking about?! She is 13 years old and she put her hand out for a handshake, you don’t ignore that.”
© Getty ImagesWhile the A-list parents were not in attendance, the former couple – who divorced in 2022 – have so far been united in their support for their daughter in her public endeavors. Including encouraging her unique look and budding music career, posting on social media and even allowing North to be homeschooled.
North has had an especially exciting past 12 months, which has included her releasing her debut EP, N0rth4Evr, on May 1. At the time of the release, North’s doting family showed their support on social media – including her notoriously private uncle, Rob Kardashian.
© Getty ImagesAlthough the Shutdown hitmaker seemed to be more concerned about the child’s rising fame, as after one comment noted that North skipped being a teenager, the rapper urged her parents, and his wider audience: “WOW!! Protect your kids people. Protect your kids!”
Skepta shares two children with fashion buyer and brand strategist Alanna Wain. Their daughter, River, was born in October 2018. They welcomed a second child, a son, in 2021.
© Getty ImagesNonetheless, it seems North knows exactly what she wants at a young age, and with her strong ambition has come Kim’s transparency with the decision to homeschool her unique daughter.
Speaking out about her decision to let North be homeschooled during an appearance on sister Khloe Kardashian’s podcast, Khloe in Wonderland, in January. Kim said: “[North] is homeschooled and a lot of it is me helping her do a lot of the teachings and the things that we do. But we do a lot of realistic courses, things that she’s really into.”
