Kyra Sedgwick shares unexpected photo of rarely-seen mother, 94

Kyra Sedgwick has shared a rare glimpse of her 94-year-old mother – and she’s clearly inherited her youthful genes.

The Closer star, 61, took to Instagram Stories with a hilarious screenshot from a recent FaceTime conversation with her mom, Patricia Rosenwald.

In the image, Patricia could be seen getting extremely close to the camera as she appeared to demonstrate something to her daughter, while Kyra smiled from a small window at the top of the screen wearing a wide-brimmed navy hat and glasses.

“My 94 year-old mom has discovered FaceTime,” Kyra joked over the image.

“She does tutorials. Please reach out to her management to book.”

The candid snap offered a rare look at Patricia, who has largely remained out of the spotlight despite her famous daughter’s decades-long Hollywood career.

Patricia previously worked as a speech teacher and family therapist, and Kyra has spoken warmly about the influence her mother had on her upbringing and eventual career in the arts.

And at 94, she certainly appears to have lost none of her energy.

Back in 2023, Kyra described her then-91-year-old mother as “amazing and unbelievable”, revealing that Patricia was still working as a psychotherapist.

“She’s still going strong. I can only try to keep up,” the actress told Parade, recalling one occasion when her mother raced ahead of her through the New York subway in sequined shoes as they made their way to a black-tie event.

Kyra also credited Patricia with helping spark her love of acting from an early age, explaining that her mother regularly took her and her brothers to the theatre and enthusiastically discussed the performances afterwards.

The actress has gone on to create a close-knit family of her own.

Kyra has been married to fellow actor Kevin Bacon since 1988 after the pair fell in love while working together on the PBS movie Lemon Sky. They share two grown-up children, musician Travis, 37, and actress Sosie, 34.

The longtime couple frequently share playful glimpses of their home life on social media and celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary earlier this month.
