It’s an extra special, celebratory weekend for Michael J. Fox and his family.
On Saturday, May 30, the Back to the Future actor’s eldest son with wife Tracy Pollan, Sam Michael Fox, rang in his 37th trip around the sun.
In addition to the birthday boy, a film producer, the couple, who tied the knot in 1988, are also parents to twins Aquinnah Kathleen and Schuyler Frances, 31, and Esmé Annabel, 24.
In honor of Sam’s special day, both of his parents took to Instagram and shared heartwarming tributes, including photos from his intimate wedding ceremony to wife Molly Milstein last year.
Tracy shared a photo of herself, wearing a gold gown, and Michael walking down the aisle, a rustic setting and happy crowd behind them followed by a selfie of the two together on a separate occasion, seemingly on vacation.
“Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday Schmoo!!!” Tracy wrote. “You are the best and I could not love you more. You make me and everyone in your lucky orbit so happy!”
Michael also included photos of Sam and himself on vacation as well as one from the wedding, which included all three of Sam’s sisters, and wrote: “Sammy I love you, they love you, we all love you. Bottom line is you rock. I am so proud of you, Happy Birthday pal!”
Fans were then quick to take to the comments section under the post and gush over it, with one writing: “That is a fantastic picture. Happy birthday,” as others followed suit with: “Beautiful photos of you and Sam. Happy birthday, hope you have a great day,” and: “What a beautiful family I see Michael,” as well as: “Awesomeness, he looks just like you. Happy blessed birthday.”
Shortly after Sam’s wedding last year, the Fox family stepped out together for the annual A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s Gala, which Michael’s foundation hosts annually.
© Getty ImagesTracy, speaking with People at the event about how the kids’ have handled their dad’s Parkinson’s diagnosis, which he received in the early 1990s, said: “Michael was diagnosed before the girls were born and very, very early into Sam’s life, so it’s kind of all they know, really,” and maintained: “They’re just incredibly supportive.”
© Getty Images“They’re very helpful to me. I lean on them a lot and [because] Michael is so optimistic, which is wonderful and really helps him, but it’s really important to also understand that this is a huge challenge,” she added.
Tracy continued: “It’s very difficult for the family, for the caregivers, and obviously for the patient, so I think it’s also important to acknowledge that, and acknowledge that it’s not just all sort of easy. It’s not easy,” noting: “So you know, and it’s hard for them, but they show up and you know, they’re there for us.”
