Netflix viewers are hooked on Man on Fire, the streamer’s latest gripping crime drama to drop over the weekend.

Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the central role of John Creasy, a Special Forces soldier looking for a fresh start, the seven-part series follows his struggle to confront a complex past. Only by facing his personal demons can he truly turn over a new leaf.

Based on A.J. Quinnell’s 1980s book series, this isn’t the first time the franchise has been adapted. In 2004, Denzel Washington brought Creasy to life in Tony Scott’s film, while Scott Glenn also stepped into the role in an earlier 1987 version.

Netflix’s series is written and created by Kyle Killen (Halo, The Beaver), while Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) directs the first two episodes. Since its release on Thursday, the show has shot to number one on Netflix’s most-watched chart, with many fans bingeing it in one go. Intrigued? Keep reading to find out more about Man on Fire.
