Princess Beatrice appears to have missed her friend Alice Naylor-Leyland’s epic 40th birthday celebrations in Tuscany.
The British royal, 37, was noticeably absent from the festivities, which took place at the Villa Cetinale in Tuscany at the weekend and were attended by Alice’s famous friends, including Lady Mary Charteris and model Poppy Delevingne.
“We went full mambo Italiano celebrating @mrsalice on her birthday,” Lady Mary wrote on Instagram.
The glamorous six-bedroom abode was previously the home of late Conservative MP, Lord Antony Lambton, who acquired Villa Cetinale as a home for himself and his mistress, Claire Ward, in 1977.
The pair hosted a string of famous visitors during their time there, among them Princess Margaret and Mick Jagger.
The property is now owned by Lord Lambton’s son Ned, and it was in recent years used as a filming location for the television series Succession.
Beatrice and Alice’s special bond
Beatrice and Alice are incredibly close friends; the pair even collaborated on a special collection for Alice’s homewear brand, Mrs Alice.
The collaboration was to celebrate “Motherhood, friendship and support premature birth Charity Borne,” the charity which Beatrice became a patron of following the early arrival of her daughter Athena.
Why wasn’t Beatrice at the party?
Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have been travelling around Europe together in recent weeks, and they were last pictured in Athens in a picture shared on social media by art curator Aliki Lampropoulos and obtained by the Daily Mail.
It’s unclear when the picture was taken, but it showed the couple happily smiling together on their holiday abroad. Beatrice appeared to be make-up free and was wearing a denim shirt, while Edo had a white T-shirt and friendship bracelets on his wrist.
Aliki added a bee emoji to her caption, perhaps hinting at her nickname for Beatrice, 37, who often goes by “Bea” as a nickname.

The friend told us in March: “The only thing Bea and Edo are navigating are their busy jobs and looking after their children! They’ve both had recent stints working abroad and, like so many working parents, have balancing work with looking after the kids.
“Recent reports that things aren’t good between them are not true at all. Things are great between them and the only distance between them recently has been physical distance because of work!”
