Princess Charlène of Monaco made a graceful and poignant appearance alongside Prince Albert II as the royal couple attended the ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the 2016 Nice terrorist attack, joining French President Emmanuel Macron, victims’ families and public officials in a solemn tribute.
Held on Place Masséna in Nice on July 14, the memorial honored the 86 people who lost their lives and the hundreds who were injured when a truck drove into crowds celebrating Bastille Day on the Promenade des Anglais in one of France’s deadliest modern terrorist attacks.
The occasion called for reflection, and Princess Charlène’s sophisticated ensemble reflected the dignity of the ceremony.
The former Olympic swimmer wore a sleeveless navy lace midi dress featuring an intricate geometric floral pattern, a fitted waistband and a delicately scalloped hem that added subtle texture without distracting from the event’s solemn atmosphere.
She completed the monochromatic look with matching navy suede pointed-toe pumps, classic pearl stud earrings and her signature blonde hair styled in a sleek low chignon with a side part. Her makeup remained soft and polished, with neutral eyes, lightly defined brows and a muted pink lip that complemented the understated elegance of the ensemble.
Prince Albert coordinated perfectly in a navy suit paired with a white shirt and black tie, emphasizing the respectful tone of the ceremony as the couple stood alongside President Emmanuel Macron, First Lady Brigitte Macron, Monaco officials and French dignitaries.
Throughout the ceremony, Princess Charlène was seen quietly holding a white folding fan while listening to tributes, standing in silence during moments of remembrance and greeting attendees with warmth and composure.
The couple also exchanged greetings with French officials, including Nice Mayor Eric Ciotti, before taking their seats among the invited guests.
According to the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène attended the ceremony to reaffirm “the solidarity of the Principality of Monaco toward France and its unwavering support for all the victims of this tragedy, whose memory remains deeply rooted in the collective consciousness.”
Their presence underscored the close ties between Monaco and France as thousands gathered to remember the victims ten years after the attack that forever changed the city of Nice.
