The Queen has developed a friendship with one surprising, well-known singer who has reportedly earned a place in her inner circle. Over the years, Spice Girls star Geri Halliwell-Horner has attended multiple royal engagements where she has been pictured meeting and interacting with Queen Camilla.
According to the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden, the Queen has become “increasingly close” with the Spice Girls singer.
A source told the reporter that Geri has become like one of the Queen’s ladies-in-waiting, “but more so”, sharing that the two share a common interest in horses. While the Queen ended the long-standing royal tradition of having ‘ladies-in-waiting’ when her husband King Charles ascended the throne, she opted to have six assistants known as ‘Queen’s companions’.
As a fellow horse enthusiast, Geri recently made a trackside appearance for day one of Royal Ascot on 16 June with her husband, Christian Horner. The pop star looked lovely in all-white for her day at the races as she was pictured holding hands with her significant other.
Connection to the Queen
Geri has a special connection to the royal family as an ambassador for the Royal Commonwealth Society, which the Queen is a patron of. The singer recently reunited with the Queen in January during a visit to Maggie’s Cheltenham centre in Gloucestershire to mark the organisation’s 30th anniversary.
The royal greeted the Spice Girl singer with a kiss on the cheek and asked: “How are you, Geri? Is this your first visit?”
“Yeah, amazing,” Geri replied.
Last November, Geri visited St James’ Palace for a reception held in honour of The Queen’s Commonwealth essay competition, which was established by the Royal Commonwealth Society. Alongside the Queen, Geri met with winners of the prize, which encourages young people to engage with pressing issues of the day and write an essay on a topic of importance to them.

The pop star said she was “delighted” when she was named as an Ambassador for the society, which has been running since 1868, in 2020.
“Throughout my life, I have been a big believer in the power of coming together and breaking down barriers,” Geri said at the time.
She added: “The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition, whose roots go back to 1883, is an opportunity for young people to convey their views on the world and to be heard. With so many challenges facing us, it’s important that we stay united on our shared values as we take positive steps in climate action, and achieving racial and gender equality. So let’s start writing, sharing our stories and continue learning from each other.”
Geri’s relationship with the royals
Geri has had an enduring relationship with the royals, going back to the ’90s. The star famously met King Charles back in 1997, when he was the Prince of Wales, at the annual Prince’s Trust Gala with her Spice Girls bandmates.
While attending the annual event again in 2023, Geri spoke to HELLO! about her long-standing relationship with the royal.
© WPA Pool“I feel like Prince Charles, his royal highness, is part of the landscape of the Spice Girls journey,” she told us. “We consider him a Spice Boy. He was there from the beginning, and to see him just grow and shine, our future King, I think it’s brilliant what he does.
“I really admire him,” she continued. “As a representation of our country. I feel we should be really proud of what he does. He’s a modern man, he’s a modern royal, he has consciousness.”
Geri has since attended multiple events alongside the royals. In March, she joined royals guests, including King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales, for the 2026 Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.
