Rumi Carter is a star in the making! The nine-year-old already made her stage presence known during Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter World Tour in 2025, and she’s shown her dance abilities once again in a new family video with dad Jay-Z.
In a very rare look at family life away from the spotlight, Beyoncé and Jay-Z starred in a new short film, The Blueprint, which featured all three of their children.
In one scene, Jay-Z rehearsed before headlining The Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, where his nine-year-old daughter joined him, mirroring his steps with perfect rhythm.
Later in the video, Rumi was seen dancing in the crowd while watching Jay-Z on stage.
The couple released the video on Cécred’s Youtube channel, which took a look at Jay-Z’s hair journey over the past decade.
The video captured Jay-Z’s family members – including Beyoncé and oldest daughter Blue Ivy, 14, combing out his locs after eight years so he could wear an afro on stage.
© CécredHe wanted to change his hair to honor of his late father, Adnis Reeves, who famously wore an afro throughout his life and who had a strong connection to the city.
For nearly a decade, Jay-Z had worn his hair in wicks, and it was far more than just a hairstyle. The video explained that the singer decided to grow out his hair, which he had worn short for many years, to teach Blue Ivy, then five, to love her hair.
© Cécred YoutubeBeyoncé – who narrated The Blueprint – explained that Blue wasn’t feeling very confident at the time, and her parents wanted to help develop her confidence.
“Our daughter was about five, and she wasn’t feeling very confident about her hair at that time. When she told her father that, it inspired Jay to grow out his hair. We really wanted her to love and embrace every inch of her gorgeous curls,” Beyoncé said.

While not too much is known about their personal life, Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles previously opened up about her grandchildren’s personalities – and how different they all are.
Blue is incredibly talented and focused, something her proud grandmother has opened up about on a number of occasions.
© HELLO!During an appearance on Sherri in April, she said when asked about Blue following her parents into the spotlight: “I think she’s destined for it because she’s just so talented in many ways. Like with hair and makeup, with fashion.” Tina added: “This girl plays the piano like a concert pianist really, and she’s only had a few lessons, but she’s just naturally talented. She reminds me of her mom so much.”
On the twins, Tina previously told E! News: “Rumi is amazing—an amazing artist, painter, and creator.” Reflecting on the twins’ flourishing creativity, she continued, “How could they be anything else growing up in that environment?” She emphasized that their family life is steeped in discussions about creativity and fashion, nurturing their innate talents from a very young age.
Sir, on the other hand, shares more similarities with his father. “Sir is very quiet,” Tina noted, revealing that he gravitates more towards numbers than fashion. “He does all of the numbers stuff, so he’s not into fashion as much,” she explained, but quickly added that Sir is “very, very smart.”
