Sasha Obama was the epitome of cool as she stepped out in Los Angeles after a session at the celebrity favorite Equinox gym on Monday.
The 25-year-old looked stylish in blue lycra workout shorts and a black zip-up jacket, which showcased her incredibly athletic figure. She paired the look with black flip-flops and a black gym bag slung over her shoulder, and wore her long tresses in a half-up, half-down style.
Back in the spotlight
Sasha’s laid-back look came just weeks after she made her first public appearance with her family in almost a decade at the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.
The university student wowed the crowd as she stepped out in a draped off-the-shoulder top and white matching skirt, paired with a chunky brown boho belt and open-toed heels. Sasha looked confident on the stage as she was joined by her older sister, Malia Obama, and her parents, Barack and Michelle Obama.
The brunette beauty currently lives in Los Angeles with her older sister and graduated from the University of Southern California in 2023 before continuing her education.
A proud father
Barack recently opened up about how proud he was of Malia and Sasha, who he claimed were “cooler, smarter [and] funnier” than him. “Those two, Malia and Sasha, are all that,” the former president told People. “If I were their age…I can barely keep up with them at the dinner table now; if I was their contemporary, I would just sit there,” he added.
“As my mom would say about us, and I have to say this about Malia and Sasha, as wonderful as they are, they just reflect back what their generation has to offer,” Michelle chimed in. “There are millions of amazing young people like our girls, and we see them every day.”
The former First Lady explained that she and Barack had chosen to stay in Washington, D.C. after his second presidential term was up to provide a safe haven for their girls.
“We still live in D.C. Our primary, primary residence is there because that’s where the kids’ friends are. When the kids come home from being away, they want to be with their friends,” she said.
Private lives
Malia and Sasha are fiercely private after a lifetime of living in the public eye, and Barack shared on The Pivot Podcast just how “nuts” the media attention makes them feel. “There’s been some paparazzi stuff going on, and it drives them nuts, because their attitude is, ‘We’re not looking for all that,'” he explained.
“Growing up, the press was pretty good. I basically made a deal with the press pool – the White House press core – I said, ‘You can follow me around. You can talk about me. You do whatever you need to do. Leave my children alone because they have the right to grow up. They didn’t choose this. Let them grow up.’ And to the credit of the press, they did leave them alone.”
He added that while he “can’t brag about them enough”, Malia and Sasha prefer not to seek their parents’ help when it comes to their careers. “The challenge for us is letting us give them any help at all. I mean they’re very sensitive about this stuff. They’re very stubborn about it,” the 64-year-old said.
