Shakira traded the concert stage for the stadium stands on June 22 as she attended the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group J match between Argentina and Austria at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Colombian superstar was joined by her sons, Milan Piqué Mebarak and Sasha Piqué Mebarak, for a memorable family outing at one of the tournament’s most anticipated group-stage fixtures.

Seated in a premium viewing area, Shakira was spotted closely following the action as Argentina took on Austria in front of a packed crowd. Dressed casually and accompanied by her children, the singer appeared fully immersed in the match atmosphere while cameras periodically captured the trio watching from the stands.

During the match, Shakira was shown on the venue’s giant video screens, prompting loud cheers from spectators. The singer acknowledged the crowd, waving and interacting with supporters as excitement swept through the stadium.

For Shakira, the World Cup has long been more than just a sporting event. Over the years, she has become one of the most recognizable musical figures associated with football’s biggest tournament. Her 2010 World Cup anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” remains one of the most successful and enduring songs in tournament history.

Earlier in June, Shakira performed the official FIFA World Cup 2026 song “Dai Dai” alongside Burna Boy during the tournament’s opening festivities in Mexico City.

The Arlington match also carried major significance on the field. Argentina entered the contest as one of the favorites in the expanded 48-team World Cup, with football legend Lionel Messi once again attracting global attention and making history as FIFA World Cup’s all-time leading scorer after netting his fourth and fifth goals of the 2026 tournament, moving past Germany legend Miroslav Klose.

The first goal was the 17th World Cup goal of Messi’s remarkable career, surpassing Klose’s long-standing mark of 16. Minutes before the end of the match, he secured a second goal. Argentina secured a spot in the next round after winning 2-0 against Austria, and Shakira and her sons were there watching history unfold.

Messi’s whole family was also present and celebrating his triumph. Antonela Rocuzzo, Messi’s longtime partner and mother of his three sons, took to social media to gush over her husband. “What a privilege to see you make history again and again,” she wrote in Spanish alongside a carousel.

In the mix were family photos, including one of her smiling in front of the field with their sons, Thiago, 13, Mateo, 10, and Ciro, 8. They all proudly wore matching Argentina jerseys. “I love you,” she continued.
