Shakira has not released her upcoming song, but she has already managed to place the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the center of online conversation. The singer’s upcoming track “Dai Dai,” created in collaboration with Burna Boy, for the sporting event, is rapidly gaining traction after a short teaser clip spread across social media platforms.

The preview immediately caught attention not only because of the music itself, but because of the visuals. Shakira appears inside Maracanã Stadium holding the official World Cup ball.

The song includes lines such as “what broke you once made you strong,” which quickly became the focal point among fans. Combined with the multilingual chorus “dai, dai, we go, dale, ale, let’s go,” the song appears designed to capture the global spirit that usually defines World Cup anthems.

That emotional undertone is one reason the teaser immediately triggered speculation online. Many listeners connected the lyrics to Shakira’s highly publicized split from former football star Gerard Piqué in 2022. Their relationship ended after more than a decade together amid widespread media reports involving Clara Chía.

Although “Dai Dai” does not directly reference any individual or relationship, fans have interpreted the lyrics as another jab following personal upheaval.

Especially since Shakira has repeatedly transformed personal experiences into globally discussed music moments.

At the same time, the conversation surrounding “Dai Dai” also highlights Shakira’s unique position in World Cup music history. Few artists are as strongly associated with the tournament’s soundtrack culture as she is. Songs like “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” became a defining moment in her career.
