Tiger Woods will not compete in any golfing majors in 2026 after the athlete missed the British Open deadline, following his DUI arrest in March. He also does not have an automatic exemption to the US Open in June, and will focus on recovering at a facility in Switzerland.
The 50-year-old crashed his car on Jupiter Island, Florida, on March 27, and blew zero on a breathalyzer test but refused a urine test at the time. Two Hydrocodone pills were reportedly found in his pocket, and Tiger was arrested before being released on bail.
He withdrew his name from consideration for the US Ryder Cup captaincy and shared on social media that he was seeking treatment for his health issues.
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” he wrote. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.“
“I’ve committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.“
Tiger missed out on all four golfing majors in 2025 due to injury and underwent disk replacement surgery in October, marking his seventh back surgery.

Tiger also returned to celebrate Vanessa’s daughter Kai’s high school graduation, and returned to Switzerland on a private plane on May 24, as per TMZ.

Tiger and Vanessa went public with their relationship in March 2025. The mother of five shared that she was undergoing treatment for the illness and was surrounded by friends and family. “I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. While this isn’t news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan,” she wrote.
“I would like to thank my doctors for performing a procedure earlier this week on me. I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me.”
