Jenna Bush Hager can finally share her The Devil Wears Prada 2 scene with the world!
Last month, the TODAY anchor’s co-host Craig Melvin inadvertently let it slip that she would be appearing in the highly-anticipated sequel, which has already broken records by generating an estimated $233.6 million worldwide in its first weekend.
Now, Jenna is finally sharing details of her cameo, which she did alongside several other notable faces.
Speaking on the Monday, May 4 installment of TODAY with Jenna & Friends, Jenna first noted: “Craig didn’t mean to bust me, but he busted me,” before sharing: “I’ll set the scene, so I got invited to play myself, which is really the only part I can play.”
She detailed how a group of other famous faces, among them Jon Batiste, Molly Jong-Fast, Kara Swisher and Jia Tolentino, were invited to film a party scene somewhere near the Hamptons, and Jenna, sharing a behind-the-scenes clip, noted that the wine in her hand was not real wine.
“I dressed my own self … I put whatever I wanted on,” she continued, explaining: “Because it’s supposed to be a scene where Miranda, aka Meryl Streep, invites friends who are sort of like in the media business to her home, and it’s casual.”
“She was even dressed casually in the scene, she was wearing a long-sleeve button down and pants,” she maintained.
“I have a line, but it was not scripted. So we get there and they had been there longer because I had the show, so I couldn’t be there at a certain time, and all of a sudden they’re like, ‘Jenna! Jenna! Meryl! Anne!’ and I’m like, ‘Wait, what?’ I didn’t know what I was doing,” she further shared.
“So we got there and the premise is that she’s introducing me — Meryl is introducing me to Anne [Hathaway] who is back at the magazine, which is not a spoiler — and I say something like, ‘Great interview,'” Jenna added, revealing her one line.
“She goes, ‘Jenna Bush Hager, Andy Sachs,’ and I go, ‘Great interview!'” she reiterated, noting that she didn’t practice because, “the second I got there they called me” and so she was “on the fly.”
“All the extras, all the cameos were so much fun … I made friends! We had a great time, we were there all day.”
Jenna then noted that though she hasn’t seen the movie in theaters, she did already get a preview, and knew when her part was coming, even though she was “prepared to be cut.”
