Tom Hardy is swapping film sets for the recording studio, as the Venom star is reportedly releasing his first album. The 48-year-old actor has teamed up with the supergroup Czarface – comprising producer 7L, rapper Esoteric and Wu-Tang Clan’s Inspectah Deck – for the upcoming record, Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer.
Performing under the rap moniker Frankie Pulitzer, a.k.a. Face Puller, Tom will drop the album on 28 August. He offered fans a preview with the release of the single ‘Brothers Grimm’ on 25 June.
It’s thought that Method Man will also make an appearance on the album, along with El-O and Busta Rhymes.
This isn’t the Peaky Blinders star’s first musical endeavour. He previously recorded an unreleased rap mixtape in 1999 under the name Tommy No. 1, which surfaced online in 2018.
MobLand drama rumours
Tom’s latest venture comes amid speculation about his future on the Guy Ritchie-directed gangster series, MobLand.
The drama, which also stars Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, follows the London crime family, the Harrigans, who are in a “kill-or-be-killed” battle with their rivals, the Stevensons, that threatens to “topple empires and ruin lives”. Filming for season two wrapped earlier this year.
© ParamountIn May, it was reported that Tom had been fired from the Paramount+ crime drama after two seasons due to a falling out with executive producer Jez Butterworth and producer David Glasser. It was also reported that he was frequently late to arrive on-set and insisted on changes to the script, causing friction between him and his co-stars Helen and Pierce Brosnan.
The report originally appeared in the industry newsletter Puck, with Matthew Belloni, former Editorial Director of The Hollywood Reporter, writing: “I’m told Paramount recently opted not to pick up Hardy for season three after his clashes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser, among others, during the recent production of season two.”
© Paramount PlusHowever, later that month, Variety challenged the reports, stating that Tom had not been fired from the show and that Tom, Jez and David are currently trying to resolve their issues.
Tom’s MobLand co-star Helen spoke out in support of the actor last month following reports of friction between the pair.
Taking to Instagram, the Oscar-winning actress appeared to shut down the rumours, sharing a photo of Tom alongside the caption: “Love you now and always.”
