Zoe Kravitz delivered one of the most talked-about moments of the Met Gala, and it had nothing to do with what she wore.

The Big Little Lies star, 37, turned heads as she arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a breathtaking black lace Yves Saint Laurent gown, exuding gothic elegance from every angle. But while her look was undeniably striking, it was what was missing that truly sparked debate.

Just one week after her engagement to Harry Styles was made public, Zoe appeared on the red carpet without her reported $1 million engagement ring, and notably, without her fiancé by her side.

As she stepped onto fashion’s most scrutinised carpet, Zoe appeared to subtly shield her left hand from cameras, sparking immediate speculation. When her hand was later fully visible, her ring finger was unmistakably bare. 

The absence didn’t go unnoticed. “No ring omfg?” one stunned social media user wrote, echoing the sentiment across platforms as fans questioned why the newly engaged star would forgo such a significant symbol.

Despite arriving without Harry, Zoe was far from unaccompanied. The actress, who also served as a co-chair on the Met Gala Host Committee, walked the carpet alongside Anthony Vaccarello, the creative force behind her dramatic look.

The pair made a striking duo, perfectly embodying the night’s theme, Costume Art, which explored the relationship between fashion and the human body.

Zoe’s gown was a masterclass in understated drama. Crafted in intricate black lace, the long-sleeved silhouette featured a plunging neckline and a sculptural skirt that she held delicately as she posed for photographers. Paired with statement earrings and her hair styled in a tousled updo, the look felt both timeless and modern, a fitting interpretation of the evening’s artistic dress code.

The 2026 Met Gala, often dubbed the Super Bowl of fashion, challenged attendees to explore how designers use the body as a canvas, with Zoe’s ensemble standing out as one of the night’s most refined interpretations.

Zoe’s relationship with Harry has been closely watched since news of their engagement broke just days earlier, when she was first spotted wearing the eye-catching diamond ring.

The daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet was previously engaged to Channing Tatum, with the pair calling it quits in 2024 after three years together. She was also married to Karl Glusman, though the marriage lasted less than two years before their split in 2020.
