Amanda Seyfried has barely aged a day as she shared a three-decade-old photo on Thursday.
The actress, 40, took to Instagram and posted a snap of herself from 1997 when she was just 11 years old. The photo appears to be a modelling headshot, as Amanda began her career in front of the camera as a child.
The Mamma Mia star wore a black T-shirt in the snap, with her locks styled into an updo. Alongside the photo, she wrote: “First comp card (1997)”.
Amanda began modelling at the age of eight when she signed with the agency Image International in her hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania.
She modelled throughout high school and later transitioned to acting when she won a role in the CBS soap opera As the World Turns and the teen comedy Mean Girls soon after.
Amanda’s Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan commented on the childhood snap of Amanda with a heart-eyes emoji while actress Rachel Zegler wrote: “My heart”.
Lasting friendship
Amanda and Lindsay have remained good friends since starring together in Mean Girls in 2004.
Amanda, speaking with GQ, noted she has a protectiveness over Lindsay after the “ugly,” “outsized bashing” she experienced at the hands of netizens and media for years. “I also wasn’t working at that level. The spotlight was on her, no matter what she did.”
Lindsay, contributing to the profile, also shared: “We’ve stayed close because there’s genuine trust and respect between us.”
“What started as shared experience has grown into a meaningful friendship over time. Now we talk more about life, motherhood and our families. She’s always someone I can rely on. That consistency is rare and something I really cherish,” she said.
Lindsay, who is based in Dubai, became a mother in July 2023, when she welcomed her first and only child, son Luai, whom she shares with husband Bader Shamas.
Amanda, who lives in upstate New York, has been married to fellow actor Thomas Sadoski since 2017, and they are parents to daughter Nina, nine, and son Thomas, five.
Shortly after Lindsay announced her pregnancy in March 2023, Amanda, during an appearance on Good Morning America, gushed: “[Lindsay is] gonna have a baby! We’re all moms!” before revealing: “I had spoken with Lindsay… I interviewed her, actually — it was really fun — when she was like, newly pregnant, but she didn’t tell me.”
She then explained that she asked Lindsay at the time of their interview whether she would want to have kids one day, revealing then that the fellow former child star only answered with an excited yes, not disclosing that she was in fact already pregnant with her first child.
“She actually was pregnant when I spoke with her and when I found out… It was so [sweet],” she said. When Lindsay first announced her pregnancy in an Instagram post, Amanda commented on the post: “This is WONDERFUL NEWS!!”
