Jaden Agassi is building his own baseball legacy

As the eldest son of Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, two of the greatest players in tennis history, he grew up with a legendary last name. Together, his parents won 30 Grand Slam singles titles and became one of the sport’s most iconic couples.

Instead of following in their footsteps, however, Jaden chose a different path. The 24-year-old has quietly built a career as a baseball pitcher, staying largely out of the spotlight while forging an identity of his own. His journey shows that even when you’re born into an extraordinary legacy, there’s still room to write your own story.

Who Is Jaden Gil Agassi?

Jaden Gil Agassi was born on October 26, 2001, just days after Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf were married. Two years later, they welcomed their daughter, Jaz Elle, completing their family.

Unlike many children of famous athletes, Jaden grew up largely out of the public eye. His parents made a conscious effort to give both of their children as normal a childhood as possible, shielding them from the pressures that came with international fame.

As he got older, Jaden gradually came to understand just how well known his parents were. Andre Agassi has said that his children slowly realized the life they considered perfectly ordinary was anything but.

Why His Parents Never Pushed Him Toward Tennis

Given his family background, many assumed Jaden would eventually follow his parents onto the tennis court. That was never the plan.

Andre Agassi has often spoken about the intense pressure he experienced as a child under his father’s demanding coaching. In his memoir Open, he describes years of relentless training and the expectation that he would become a champion.

Determined not to repeat that experience, Andre and Steffi encouraged their children to pursue whatever interested them most. Graf has said they never made tennis a central part of their children’s lives, and both Jaden and Jaz ultimately found passions of their own.

Agassi has also said he believes it’s tragic when a parent’s love for a child becomes tied to performance rather than being unconditional.

The Sport That Won Him Over

While many expected Jaden to pick up a tennis racket, he found his passion elsewhere. He was just 6 years old when he discovered baseball, and what began as a childhood pastime quickly grew into something much bigger. Looking back, Jaden has said that although he tried tennis plenty of times, he struggled to keep the ball inside the lines. More than anything, he simply wanted to hit it as far as he could, making baseball the perfect fit from the very beginning.

Jaden has also credited his mother for one trait that’s helped him on the mound: her calm, composed demeanor under pressure. Baseball isn’t his only passion, though. Away from the field, he enjoys life’s simpler pleasures, including one of his favorite meals, barbecue ribs.

Making “Agassi” a Baseball Name

Jaden has never shied away from the expectations that come with one of the most recognizable names in sports. Instead, he hopes to expand what it represents.

He has acknowledged that Agassi is synonymous with tennis but says his goal is to make it a baseball name as well. Rather than distancing himself from his family’s remarkable legacy, he’s focused on adding a new chapter to it.

His Years at USC

Jaden continued developing as a pitcher at the University of Southern California, where he majored in Business Administration while playing baseball.

One of the biggest milestones in his career came in 2025, when he represented Germany in the World Baseball Classic qualifiers. Although he was born and raised in the United States, Jaden chose to compete for his mother’s home country as a tribute to Steffi Graf’s German heritage.

Off the field, Jaden has been dating Catherine Holt since September 2022. The couple, who are approaching their fourth anniversary, frequently share photos of their travels and everyday life on social media.

Holt has also built a career in sports. She earned a degree in Applied Physiology and Sports Management before completing an internship with Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers.

His Viral Return to Roland Garros

Just weeks ago, Jaden made a rare public appearance alongside his father at Roland Garros. The photos quickly went viral after fans noticed one striking detail: Jaden now stands considerably taller than Andre Agassi.

Wearing a tailored navy suit, he joined his father at the men’s semifinals, marking one of the few public appearances the pair has made together in recent years.

At 24, Jaden Agassi is continuing to build a career on his own terms. His last name will always be linked to two of tennis’ greatest champions, but he’s determined to make sure it also earns a place in baseball.
