Apple Martin is following up on her promises. After revealing that she was interested in pursuing acting and graduating from Vanderbilt University, Martin has signed up for her acting debut, starring alongside Penelope Cruz and Jude Law in Nancy Meyers’ upcoming project.
Apple Martin joins an exciting cast that includes Cruz, Law, Kieran Culkin, Erin Doherty, Owen Wilson, and more. She shared the news in one of her Instagram stories, writing, “Dreams come true!!! Thank you, Nancy Meyers for taking a chance on me.”
In March of this year, Martin was featured in an episode of “Rooster,” playing a college student in the Steve Carell-led series.
Meyers’ new project has been kept under wraps and was previously known as “Paris Paramount.” The project is highly anticipated, being referred to as Meyers’ comeback film. Through her career, she’s directed numerous beloved films, among them “The Parent Trap,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “It’s Complicated,” and more. The film is a semi-autobiographical story.
“There’s been a lot written about my new film,” wrote Meyers on an Instagram post from 2023. “Here’s one thing I can easily clear up — and that’s the title — PARIS PARAMOUNT. It’s from a quote by the brilliant and elegant comedy director (dare I say creator of the romantic comedy) Ernst Lubitsch. The movie is about a group of people making a film and the magic and mystery of what we do. As always, Lubitsch said it best.”
Martin’s decision to pursue acting
Apple Martin is following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother, Gwyneth Paltrow and Blythe Danner, two major TV and film icons across different generations of Hollywood.
Martin initially wanted to be a lawyer, but has settled for pursuing her dreams despite the pressure of her parents’ fame and her family legacy. “I was in that rebellious ‘I don’t wanna be like my parents’ type of phase,” she said in an interview with Vogue.
“I don’t wanna be a singer,” she said, even though she’s released a song with the band Jade Street and is featured in their music video. She also has writing credits on Coldplay songs. “I like musical theater, but getting onstage by yourself to sing is so terrifying,” she continued. “I love dancing, and I love acting. My dream is to act.”
