Jay-Z kicked off his 30th anniversary concert series in unforgettable fashion, bringing out two very special guests: wife Beyoncé and daughter Blue Ivy Carter.
The rap icon launched the celebration at Yankee Stadium on Friday, July 10, treating fans to surprise family appearances that quickly became the night’s biggest highlights.
Beyoncé Joins Jay-Z for “Can’t Knock the Hustle”
One of the evening’s biggest surprises came when Jay-Z performed his 1996 classic “Can’t Knock the Hustle.”
Instead of the song’s original collaborator, Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé stepped in to perform the guest vocals. The Grammy-winning singer confidently walked across the stage as she delivered her verse, earning a huge reaction from the crowd.
After the performance wrapped, Jay-Z proudly praised his wife, telling the audience, “Oh, she can sing.”
Beyoncé returned the love, telling the crowd, “Give it up for my baby,” as Jay-Z smiled beside her.
Blue Ivy Earns a Standing Ovation
The family moments didn’t end there.
Later in the show, Jay-Z welcomed 14-year-old Blue Ivy Carter to the stage during a performance of “Feelin’ It.” Blue Ivy closed out the song by performing its piano solo, impressing the packed stadium with her musical talent.
Fans erupted into cheers as she finished, prompting Jay-Z to proudly tell the audience, “Make some noise for the legendary Blue Ivy Carter.”
The father and daughter then shared a heartfelt embrace before she exited the stage.
Jay-Z Has Praised Blue Ivy’s Musical Talent
Blue Ivy’s latest performance comes just months after Jay-Z opened up about her impressive piano skills in an interview with GQ.
“She won’t let us get her a teacher. She doesn’t want it to be a job. But she has perfect pitch. If she hears a song, she’ll be like ‘Play it again’ and then she’ll teach herself,” he said in March.
Jay-Z added that her dedication makes him especially proud.
“That’s just talent. She doesn’t work at that. She worked at this, and it makes me proud that she fought for something that she really wanted to do,” he said. “I don’t think we’re going to be able to get her off that stage now.”
Blue Ivy Has Become a Star in Her Own Right
Blue Ivy has become a familiar face onstage alongside her superstar mother in recent years.
She first joined Beyoncé during the Renaissance World Tour in 2023. Although the appearance was originally planned as a one-night performance, Blue Ivy was determined to improve after seeing criticism of her debut online. She continued rehearsing until she perfected the choreography and remained part of the tour.
She returned for the Cowboy Carter World Tour in 2025, performing alongside Beyoncé throughout the nearly three-hour show across 32 concerts over three months.
In addition to dancing with her mom, Blue Ivy enjoyed several solo spotlight moments, including a fan-favorite performance to Beyoncé’s 2006 hit “Déjà Vu.” Her viral routine quickly earned the nickname “Déjà Blue” from fans on social media.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé are also parents to 9-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir.
