Blue Ivy Carter flexed her fashionista side on Monday night at the Met Gala in New York City, alongside her mega-famous mother, Beyoncé, who served as the event’s co-chair alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour.

The 14-year-old looked so grown up on the green carpet, dressed in a white strapless Balenciaga gown with a bunched skirt and flowing train. She added a white zip-up jacket over the top with an oversized collar, sparkling silver heels, a dazzling diamond necklace and black sunglasses.

Blue Ivy was the spitting image of her mother in the stylish look, and wore her hair in tight curls down her back, à la Beyoncé’s 2016 Lemonade era.

Blue Ivy was so grown up at the glamorous event

The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer and her husband, Jay-Z, looked on proudly as Blue Ivy made her Met Gala debut. Beyoncé stole the show in a skeleton-inspired embellished crystal gown designed by Olivier Rousteing, featuring sheer paneling.

“I’ve done so many iconic looks with him, so it’s really about representing him,” she told Vogue of the former Balmain creative director. The star added a dramatic feathered cape and a crystal headpiece to complete the look, and wore her long blonde tresses down in glamorous waves.

Beyoncé couldn’t have been happier to have Blue Ivy by her side in what was the singer’s first Met Gala appearance in 10 years. “It feels surreal because my daughter’s here. She looks so beautiful. It’s incredible to be able to share with her; I think she looks so incredible,” she said.

Typically, attendees must be 18 or older to be at the Met Gala, however minors are allowed at the event if accompanied by a parent. Beyoncé’s fellow co-chair, Nicole Kidman, had the same idea and brought along her 17-year-old daughter, Sunday Rose.

Blue Ivy’s Met debut marks a shift for the budding star, who performed during her mother’s 2025 Cowboy Carter tour to great acclaim. She also performed as a dancer on Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour and received intense backlash online about her skills, which spurred her to work even harder.

“On the first tour, there was a lot of conversation around her first performance, and she worked really hard to get to that point, but she still wasn’t going for it,” Jay-Z told GQ.

“She still was going through the motions. And then she just started fighting back. I saw her fight, maybe for the first time in her life – like, not everything is just given to her, and everything is easy. She fought for it. She’s almost on every number.”

Blue Ivy is following in her mother’s famous footsteps

Beyoncé later shared with GQ that she did not want Blue Ivy onstage for fear of the backlash her daughter would be forced to weather. “Blue is an artist. She has great taste in music and fashion. She is a fantastic editor, painter and actress,” the Grammy winner said. “She has been creating characters since she was three. She’s a natural, but I did not want Blue onstage.”

“Blue wanted it for herself. She took it seriously, and she earned it. And most importantly, she had fun! We all watched her grow more and more every night before our eyes.”
