Matt Gutman is warning followers of a terrifying scam he fell for.

The CBS News anchor took to Instagram over the weekend and declared: “I just got SCAMMED,” detailing a “remarkably sophisticated phone scam” that had him “nearly … pull the entire entirety of funds out of one bank account.”

“They seemed to know so much about me, about my bank account,” he said in the video warning his followers about the scam.

Matt was instructed by the scammers to go to his bank and withdraw all his cash, with the caller also warning that he should not explain to the bank tellers what he was doing because “we think there are two fraudsters at the bank, they go by these aliases,” sparking suspicion that the call was actually a scam.

“Watch to see how it unfolded. And how dangerous it might possibly have been,” he further wrote in his caption, adding: “Huge shout out to the @lapdhq and the folks at the @bankofamerica branch where I bank for helping me avert a potentially dangerous disaster.”

Fans were then quick to take to the comments section under the post and relay similar stories as well as express their appreciation for the warning, with one writing: “Omg thank you for telling us,” as others followed suit with: “I work at a bank and we see this with the elderly. They fall for it every single day. We are on the lookout for it and have stopped several customers from pulling all of their money,” and: “Be careful everyone.”
