In a video posted on TikTok Saturday, the 26-year-old actress explained that the online backlash began after she reposted news about her latest project. According to Scorsese, the post triggered a wave of offensive comments targeting her physical appearance.

Francesca said that while she’s used to criticism tied to the “nepo baby” label, a term often used for children of well-known figures in the entertainment industry, the volume and intensity of the messages this time were unlike anything she had experienced before.

In the same video, the actress and director described the kind of messages she received after the post. According to her account, some users targeted her appearance with offensive remarks, including insults and derogatory comparisons.

The actress said people were calling her “fat” and “ugly,” with some even comparing her to a “refrigerator” or calling her “Miss Piggy.” She also questioned the motivation behind that kind of behavior on social media.

“If you’re going onto other people’s accounts looking for negativity, you’re a very, very sad person. I get it. I’m not the most beautiful girl in the world. I’m not the skinniest girl in the whole world. I’m chubby, I know it. But what does it matter?” she said in the video.

At another point in the video, the actress reflected on what she sees as the current state of digital culture.

“There are so many trolls, bots, and people who spend their time trying to ruin someone’s day and make them feel awful. This kind of behavior can have serious consequences because words carry real power,” she said.

Francesca also reflected on the public scrutiny that comes with being the daughter of a legendary filmmaker. She explained that her father’s reputation often shapes how people see her, something she said has consistently affected both her personal life and career.

She acknowledged that living up to her father’s legacy can sometimes make it difficult to be recognized for who she is as an individual. Despite that, Francesca said she remains focused on continuing to grow her career in the film and television industry.
