Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been happily married for 30 years, but she still has one regret about their $176 Las Vegas wedding.
The 55-year-old revealed what she would change about their Sin City elopement during Friday, June 12’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.
The couple was discussing Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s upcoming nuptials, rumored to be at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, which they reportedly spent a whopping $3 million to hire for at least three days.
Sharing her advice to Taylor and Travis, Kelly said: “I’m still sorry we didn’t spring for flowers, because I always think my hands look awkward.
“Flowers are extra. And, you know… somebody didn’t want to spring for flowers,” she added while pointing to her husband.
“The one photo that I never show is the [one] where I’m awkwardly posing with my hands because I don’t have flowers. It’s a very awkward photo.”
Recalling how their budget wedding package included everything but the flowers, Kelly suggested Taylor and Travis save their money by tying the knot where she and Mark did.
“I’m going to save you two a fortune. Chapel of the Bells. You go in. You’re in, you’re out,” Kelly said, while Mark added: “Less than a couple hundred bucks, probably even now still. I’m not sure how much it is. And those marriages stick.”
“Yeah. We’ve been married [for] 30 years,” Kelly noted. “You can go in there in the middle of the night, no one has to know anything, you know what I mean? And then throw your afterparty at Madison Square Garden.”
Kelly and Mark have been married since 1996 and eloped in Las Vegas one year after meeting on the set of All My Children, in which they starred as on-screen love interests, Hayley Vaughan and Mateo Santos.
While they were happy with their wedding venue, their parents were not. “None of our parents like the fact that we eloped. They [hated] that,” Kelly shared in 2024. “Spoiler alert: if you’re planning on eloping, your parents will hate that.”
Mark claimed that it took their parents “10 years” to get over their elopement after they “figured out all the money they saved” by not having to pay for an extravagant wedding.
Kelly previously said that she knew Mark was ‘the one’ before she even met him. “I saw my husband in a photograph before I saw him, and I knew,” Kelly said during an interview on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy.
“I wasn’t looking to get married… but when I saw him, the photograph of him, I saw my entire future with him flash before – like I saw it. And I don’t believe in any of that, but now I do. Because of that moment.”
Not that marriage is always easy. Kelly has been open and honest about how they’ve made a success of their romance.
“Relationships, marriages are not sprints, it’s a marathon,” she said during an episode of Live when she co-hosted with Ryan Seacrest. “There’s going to be like, mile 24 when you’re like, ‘I quit.’ But you just got to push through. Just push through.”
