It looks like “dog lover” is a brand that can be applied to any of the Ripa-Consuelos household!
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, who have been married now for 30 years, share three kids, Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 23, all of whom have entered the spotlight in their own right.
Michael is an actor, writer and producer, having worked in the past on the production side for Bravo, while Lola is a singer-songwriter. Joaquin is an actor as well, currently appearing in the latest Broadway revival of the play Death of a Salesman.
Of course, we can’t forget about the other members of the Ripa-Consuelos clan, their adorable pups. Kelly and Mark share an adorable Maltese/Shih Tzu mix named Lena, who they adopted in 2020. They also shared a Shih Tzu named Chewie, adopted in 2007, who passed away in early 2025.
And now, they have a “granddog,” stemming from Michael’s decision to adopt a pup earlier this year named Rosie. While Kelly and Mark have a grand New York City family townhouse that is valued at nearly $27 million, Michael lives on his own in Brooklyn, sharing a peek at his own home life with Rosie on social media.
On his Instagram Stories on Sunday, the actor posted a snap of himself watching the 1988 sci-fi horror film The Blob, with Rosie, clearly a little unnerved by the visuals, nuzzled up against him.
Case in point, he captioned the snap: “I think ‘The Blob’ might have freaked Rosie out.” As opposed to his family’s more lavish abode, Michael’s snap, seemingly at home, sported more of the trademarks of typical NYC apartment living, from classic dark wood furnishings to the plain white walls, with a green knit throw, books and video games personalizing the space.
Last month, the couple shared on LIVE with Kelly and Mark during the April 7 episode that they officially had a “granddog” in the house, after Michael adopted his three-year-old Shih Tzu, with Mark joking that she’s “spicy.”
Kelly quipped: “We don’t like to brag about our granddog, but we have a granddog,” with the Riverdale alum further adding that she “turned into the alpha right away at our house.” Kelly continued: “Lena was no match against Rosie.”
Their beloved family pet Chewie was 17 when he passed away in February 2025 after an increasing bout with illness. “Chewie had stopped eating for a couple of days and had been eating less and less for the past few weeks, was extremely dehydrated and has neurological stuff going down,” Mark shared on LIVE.
“It’s probably one of the toughest things that we have had to do as a married couple,” he added, noting further: “I mean thank God that we haven’t had any tragedy befall us like that, but she was just a great part of our life.”
