Millions of people grew up watching Lindsay Lohan. She’s been acting since she was 10, so watching her turn 40 this year came with many emotions for fans. Lohan has had many chapters of her life play out in public, but she’s been in a quieter, wholesome, mom-filled era, and her celebration reflected that.
For her big 40, the Parent Trap star celebrated surrounded by the people who have been with her through her life, gathering friends and family for an intimate dinner at Le Bilboquet in Sag Harbor.
According to Page Six, the guest list reflected just how much Lohan’s world has changed over the past decade. Her husband, Bader Shammas, was by her side, joined by their son, Luai.
The celebration also marked a rare public reunion for Lindsay’s parents, Michael and Dina Lohan. The former couple, who divorced in 2007 after more than two decades of marriage, has had a complicated relationship over the years, including several public disputes. Her siblings, Ali, Dakota, and Michael Jr., were also there.
Among the familiar faces helping her celebrate were Stephen and Ayesha Curry, who have become close friends since meeting the couple in Dubai through mutual friends. They are even Lohan’s son’s godparents.
The evening reportedly began with cocktails before guests headed inside for dinner, where confetti filled the room, and Lohan was surprised with a flower-covered pink birthday cake.
Lohan reportedly gave a speech, thanking those who have stood beside her through every season of her life. “I have known from my past and where I am today. So many chapters of my life and all the things I have gone through and how far I have come,” she said, according to Page Six.
She continued by acknowledging both lifelong friends and newer relationships. “Some of you have known me since I was a little girl, and some have become lifelong friends along the way. Every one of you has helped shape the person that I am today.”
The sentiment echoed a message she later shared with millions on Instagram. Lohan turned the milestone into a reflection on growing up in Hollywood, finding love, becoming a mother, and embracing a slower, more intentional life.
“Grateful for every chapter that brought me here,” she wrote. “For the lessons, the laughter, the love, the unexpected turns, and the people who’ve stood beside me through it all.”
She described her forties as feeling “more grounded,” “more intentional,” and “more joyful” before reflecting on the biggest lesson she’s learned. “I’m no longer searching for who I am,” she wrote. “I’m living it.”
If her birthday message is any indication, Lohan isn’t focused on looking back. “The best chapters aren’t behind me,” she wrote. “They’re the ones I’m stepping into.”
