After leaving the stadium, Messi was approached by a supporter carrying a special gift. The fan handed the football legend a rosary that had been blessed at the Vatican, explaining that it was not only meant for Messi, but also for his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, their children, his father, and the entire family. The supporter thanked Messi for the happiness he has brought to Argentina throughout his extraordinary career.

Instead of simply accepting the gift and continuing on his way, Messi stopped. He looked directly at the fan, listened attentively, and gave him his full attention as the supporter spoke from the heart. 

When the fan finished speaking, Messi responded in the most authentic way possible. He embraced him with a warm hug before continuing on. Videos of the interaction have since circulated widely across social media, with many praising Messi’s humility and willingness to make time for supporters. 

The emotional encounter came shortly after Argentina survived a difficult challenge from Cape Verde. The reigning world champions secured a dramatic 3-2 extra-time victory after being pushed to the limit by the tournament debutants, with Messi once again playing a decisive role during the match, as reported by AP News.
