Lizzo looked confident and radiant as she arrived at the Today Show in New York City on Friday, June 5 2026, showing off her impressive weight loss in a head-turning leather outfit.
The four-time Grammy Award winner stepped out in a fitted black leather jacket and matching trousers, paired with a coordinating bralette that highlighted her slimmed-down frame. Wearing her honey-blonde hair in loose waves and soft glam makeup, the singer smiled as she greeted fans and performed live as part of the Citi Concert Series.
The appearance marked a major moment for Lizzo as she continues promoting her highly anticipated new studio album, her first full-length release in four years.
Speaking with Today hosts, the singer revealed that the new record is her most personal work to date.
“I wrote songs that I needed for myself,” Lizzo explained, adding that the album contains more of her authentic self than ever before.
The ‘About Damn Time’ singer said taking an extended break from recording allowed her to experience life away from the spotlight and ultimately inspired the music she has now created. “The only way you can make great music is to have great experiences,” she added.
The singer’s Today appearance wasn’t solely focused on music. She also addressed the ongoing legal battle stemming from a lawsuit filed in 2023 by three former backup dancers, who accused her of sexual harassment, weight-shaming and creating a hostile work environment. Lizzo has repeatedly denied the allegations.
“First off, it’s nice to be able to be here and actually give you an update in my own words,” she said. “That’s really important to me. I’ve had some victories with it.”
The singer noted that some claims had already been dismissed by the court, including allegations relating to fat-shaming.
“One of the accusers dropped the fat shaming claim,” Lizzo said. “It had no merit in court. As well as the judge dropped most of the claims because they held no merit in court.”
She also made it clear that she intends to continue fighting the remaining allegations.
“I could have settled, but I’m a woman who is not afraid of the truth coming out, so I’m continuing to fight,” she said. “I’m really excited for all of the claims to be dropped and for us to just move forward.”
When asked whether she would have handled anything differently during the period in question, Lizzo shifted the focus back to her music.
“I just want to continue to think about my album and taking the things that I’ve gone through and translating that into song to help other people,” she said.
Following the interview, Lizzo took to Rockefeller Plaza to perform her new single, ‘Don’t Make Me Love You,’ proving that after a challenging few years, she is firmly focused on the future.
