Eurovision fever is in the air again, and one of the most famous winners of the international singing competition is ABBA, who swept the competition away in 1974 with their hit song, Waterloo.
The song helped propel ABBA to international stardom, and the band is widely recognised as one of the most successful bands of all time.
Away from their music careers, bandmembers have found love and started their own families, with some of their children following in their famous parents’ footsteps.
Meet the offspring of ABBA here, and find out what they’re up to…
Benny is a father-of-three
Benny Andersson
Benny is a proud father to three children, two from his relationship with Christina Gronnvall and a third with wife Mona Norklit. Benny and Christina share Peter and Helene, while he and Mona are parents to Ludwig.
While Benny’s daughter is happy to stay out of the spotlight, both of his sons have ended up following him into the entertainment industry. Peter is a member of the Swedish band One More Time, which he formed with his wife Nanne Gronvall and friend Maria Radsten.
Peter managed to follow in Benny’s footsteps with One More Time competing in Eurovision in 1996 with their song Den Vilda. Despite being incredibly popular, they fell just short of winning the competition, finishing in third place.
Ludwig is also closely involved with Benny on ABBA Voyage, serving as a producer for the iconic concert show. He has also worked with his father on the Broadway musical Chess.
Benny first became a father when he was 16, and speaking to the Big Issue in 2017, he confessed: “Even if I thought I was a mature 16-year-old and was ahead of my friends at school, it wasn’t an ideal situation. It wasn’t great when I was out touring. I regret that.
“But it works now and has done for many years. Now my son is 53 and my daughter is 51. They say, ‘We are happy you did what you did. Because it means being able to live a decent life’. They don’t complain, but I don’t know. My younger son [Ludvig] is 35 and I was with him the whole time he was growing up. I loved being hands on.”

Agnetha Faltskog
Agnetha is a proud mother to two children, who she shares with her former bandmate, Bjorn Ulvaeus. The couple, who were married between 1971 and 1980, are the parents of Linda and Peter.
Like her parents, Linda is a successful singer and actress. Linda was just eight when she made her musical debut, releasing an album alongside her famous mother, titled Nu tändas tusen juleljus. She also worked with her mother on the 2004 song, When You Walk in the Room, which served as Agnetha’s return to the music industry.
Alongside her musical career, Linda is also known as an actress, appearing in the likes of Under solen, Playa del Sol and Quick.
Peter is also a singer, with his most famous hit being Sang 8.
Reflecting on balancing her career and life as a mother, Agnetha told The Guardian in 2023: “When I started my solo career, I had it in me to write. But into the Abba years, I had two small children to take care of, and a lot of work with travelling, concerts and TV programmes. When we had some free time, I wanted to be with my children. I didn’t forget about music, I just did other things. But I have it in me.”

Anni-Frid Lyngstad
Anni-Frid first got married when she was 18, walking down the aisle with fellow musician Ragnar Fredriksson, and during their six-year marriage, the couple welcomed two children, Hans and Ann. However, unlike her fellow bandmates, Anni-Frid’s children have remained out of the spotlight.
In 1998, the ABBA star was hit with tragedy when Ann died in a car accident at the age of 30. Reflecting on the loss in the ABBA documentary The Missing 40 Years, Anni-Frid said: “It took a very long time. It took very many years and incomprehensible grief.”

Alongside the two children that Bjorn shares with Agnetha, he is also a father to two other daughters, Emma and Anna, that he shares with his ex-wife, Lena Kallersjo.
While Bjorn’s children with Agnetha have both pursued a career in the music industry, Emma and Anna prefer to stay out of the spotlight.
