Minka Kelly shares more than just her life with boyfriend Dan Reynolds. The 46-year-old Ransom Canyonactor opened up about her relationship with the 39-year-old singer, who she even shared an on-screen moment with.
Minka appears in the second season of Netflix’s Ransom Canyon as Quinn O’Grady, a concert pianist who returned to her rural hometown after a brief stint in New York City. She acts alongside Josh Duhamel and Patricia Clarkson, as well as some other fan favorites.
While she shared the screen with Dan, who starred as cattle buyer Billy Brinks during season one, the Imagine Dragons frontman was a little too busy to return.
“We tried to find a way to bring Billy Brinks back,” Minka told People. “I was like, ‘Maybe the triangle is with Billy Brinks.'”
“Sadly, he was unavailable,” she continued, adding: “He’s a little busy.”
So, while Ransom Canyon fans won’t get the chance to watch Minka and Dan on their TVs, let’s dive into their relationship and his impressive music career.
In 2022, the Friday Night Lights actress met Dan through mutual friends. The famous pair were spotted together in November 2022 after sharing a five-hour-long dinner together. A few days later, Minka and Dan were photographed holding hands.
The Imagine Dragons singer was Minka’s rock while she promoted her memoir, Tell Me Everything: A Memoir. In the book, she shared traumatic moments from her childhood. And through it all, Dan was by her side.
“She’s like, ‘Well, if you’re going to share your art, I can share something with you, but it’s very vulnerable for me. Do you want to do this or not?'” Dan recalled to People in July 2024, noting that he shared his new music with Minka. “She was very scared for me to read the book because we hadn’t met, just as much as I was scared for her to hear a song that I’d written.”
He added: “But we shared it and then it ended up being a really beautiful thing and brought us a lot closer. I think it helped us both kind of understand each other on a deeper level quite quickly.”
The singer founded Imagine Dragons in 2008 with drummer AndrewTolman. The band released their studio album in 2012, and gained major commercial success with the album’s second single, “Radioactive.”
The song reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and set the all-time record for the longest reign at the top of the Billboard Rock Songs chart, with 23 consecutive weeks.
Since then, Imagine Dragons has released five more albums. Their most recent album, Loom, was released on June 28, 2024. It peaked at #22 on the Billboard 200.
Dan tied the knot with his first wife, Aja Volman, in 2011. Aja, 46, is a singer and song writer. The former couple met in 2010 when Dan was invited to perform for another artist. They went on to form the band Egyptian, where they independently released a four track eponymous EP digitally.
After seven years of marriage, Dan announced that he and Aja were divorcing, but it wasn’t finalized until March 2024.
The Imagine Dragons singer shares four children – ArrowEven, 13, twins Gia and Coco, nine, and Valentine, six – with his ex-wife. After starting his relationship with Minka, the actress has become more embedded into Dan’s children’s lives.
In July 2026, Minka went to Disneyland with Dan and the kids. She shared several snaps on Instagram with Arrow, Gia, Coco, and Valentine, with the caption: “No place I’d rather be.”
