Alexander Skarsgård is teasing one of his sexiest roles. In a new trailer, the actor says he’s doing something completely different: playing a hot man made out of wicker.
The trailer for “Wicker” was just released, teasing Skarsgård in a look he’s never had before. “Most male actors dream of playing Hamlet at some point in their career. I never did,” said Skarsgård to EW.
“My dream was always to have nipples made out of wicker. Thanks to our wonderful directors, Eleanor and Alex, and the brilliant artists at Wētā in New Zealand, my dream has finally come true.”
© Black Bear/YouTubeThe film stars Olivia Coleman, Alexander Skarsgård and Peter Dinklage, in a story trailing a lonely and smelly fisherwoman who recruits a basketmaker to build her the perfect man. The craftsman delivers, building a gorgeous man made out of wicker, sparking outrage and jealousy in the village, with people questioning the nature of their relationship and of the man himself.
The story is a romance, with there being numerous sex scenes showing Skarsgård styled in impressive makeup and prosthetics, a challenge that filmmakers embraced.
© Black Bear/YouTube“These scenes definitely required some of the most detailed prep of all of the movie — they were very specific in the script, and every shot was boarded, rehearsed, and reboarded ahead of time,” said directors Alex Huston-Fischer and Eleanor Wilson of the sex scenes. “Of course, the wicker suit added to the dynamic.”
Colman praised Skarsgård, especially in the wicker suit. “Alex is funny, intelligent, and beautiful anyway — in the wicker costume, he’s breathtaking,” she said. “Everything is exaggerated; he’s a work of art. Alex fills the Wicker Husband with a beautiful soul.”

“Wicker” is based on a short story written by Ursula Wills-Jones titled “The Wicker Husband.” This isn’t the story’s first adaptation; in 2020, a musical was released in the UK.
The movie premiered at Sundance back in January, with the cast rounded out by Elizabeth Debicki. “Wicker” is scheduled for release on October 23rd.
