The 40th anniversary of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo brought together some of the names most closely tied to the company’s history during a July 4 gala at the Grimaldi Forum honoring Princess Caroline of Monaco. Mother and daughter once again appeared together at one of the Principality’s biggest cultural events of the summer, showcasing their distinct yet equally timeless approaches to style.

While Alexandra of Hanover embraced her signature pink, Princess Caroline relied on one of her favorite style formulas: a crisp white blouse paired with a vintage Chanel skirt inspired by Cuba and a striking pearl cameo necklace.

Alexandra of Hanover stays true to her signature pink

If there’s one shade that has become Alexandra of Hanover’s personal signature, it’s pink. Caroline’s youngest daughter once again chose it for a particularly symbolic occasion, reaffirming a color choice that has accompanied her for years at some of her most important engagements.

For the gala, she chose a long, sleeveless dress in a delicate dusty pink, a design with clean, sophisticated lines that exuded femininity. The fitted, very flattering bodice highlighted the waist thanks to an elegant side bow that added a romantic touch without overloading the look.

The real surprise came in the skirt. Although at first glance it looked like a straight dress, a slit revealed a second, much lighter pleated fabric that added movement and depth to the design. That contrast between the main satin-finish structure and the pleated inner layer created an especially elegant effect while walking, perfect for an evening dedicated to ballet.

Alexandra returns to pink again and again. She wore it at the 2025 Rose Ball with a spectacular Giambattista Valli design reminiscent of a true fairy-tale princess, and also during her visit to Madrid’s Teatro Real, where she chose another pastel pink dress by the same designer.

She completed the look with a sophisticated mini Prada satin bag, ideal for an evening gala, along with her signature long, straight hair parted down the middle.

Princess Caroline of Monaco revives a vintage Chanel favorite

Princess Caroline of Monaco once again relied on a combination that has practically become her uniform: a lightweight white blouse, sleeves rolled up for a flattering French-tuck effect, paired with a midi skirt full of personality.

The standout piece was precisely that skirt, a historic Chanel item from the Resort 2017 collection, presented in Havana in 2016, when the house turned the Cuban capital into the setting for one of its most memorable shows.

The print pays tribute to the iconic American classic cars, Cuba’s famous “almendrones,” mixing vehicles in turquoise, yellow and red tones in an explosion of color that conveys optimism and movement.

The accessories rounded out a look full of personality: numerous gold bracelets, hoop earrings, a small Chanel bag, and, above all, a stunning vintage-inspired cameo, with a gold chain and delicate pearls, which added an aristocratic touch perfectly suited to the occasion.

Mother and daughter prove that elegance can be inherited

The gala commemorating the 40th anniversary of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo brought together on stage former dancers, choreographers, and artists who have been part of the history of the company created by Jean-Christophe Maillot, before culminating in a grand celebration for guests. Current members of the company were also there, including Spanish dancer Lucía Alfaro Córcoles, a 23-year-old from Albacete.

Among them all, the joint appearance of Princess Caroline of Monaco and Alexandra of Hanover was one of the night’s standout moments. Although each maintains a very distinct aesthetic identity, both share the same philosophy: choosing pieces that transcend trends, with elegant, feminine designs perfectly suited to each occasion.
